Because reporting the news doesn't kill 32,000 people every year.

    How many does it kill?

That is one of the worst comparisons ever made on this website, which is truly impressive.

You cannot directly kill somebody with reporting. I'm sure you will try to get cute and find a way around that, but all the games in the world cannot fix a comparison that useless and flawed.

It isn't about importance. Even you can't be that blind.

You never know what you are talking about, yet you still keep rambling.

Perhaps for once you could actually try to understand the post you are responding to before clicking "post." You certainly didn't do it with this last one.

What's wrong with my proposed law?

Couldn't it save lives? We know some killers are inspired by others. We know some killers see their actions as a way to become famous.

Why would we encourage this? What purpose is served by reporting the killers name, or showing his face?

We know the media can cover a story this way. Just the other day the name of the CIA station chief in Kabul was accidentally distributed to the media. The media has reported this story, but has not published his name, or a picture of him, because they fear doing so might put the lives of some in danger.

If they can report that story in this manner, why can't we report these stories similarly?

Why is the First Amendment more important than the Second Amendment?

I'm sure the police and prosecutors believe they could better combat crime, and bring down the murder rate, if we could just loosen up the pesky protections of the 4th and 5th Amendments.

Should we loosen them, or do dead kids not trump these rights either?

One more time: We've already gutted the Fourth Amendment.

Please. Just stop. Even in your hateful crusade against the evil media, you know better than this. I was going to post a reasonable response, but something this stupid just doesn't deserve it. (That, and the site went funky and wouldn't post it.)

I never said it was. As I just reminded Fart Boy, it would really help if you actually tried to understand the posts you responded to before you responded to them next time. Thank you.
