Well, it's pretty well proven that gun control doesn't = fewer murders so I doubt more restrictive laws would have prevented him from picking up a knife.

This whole idea that THEY WANT TO TAKE MY GUNS just pisses me off. Nobody (OK, very few people) really want that. There is a balance of respecting people's right to own guns and being sensible about it. And there is definitely something to the idea that the guy you are intending to rob might think twice if he thinks you might be armed as well. What most rational people want is effective background checks, waiting periods and limits on the type of weapons and magazines. But since we as a society are incapable of compromise, any perceived infringement on the constitutional right to bear arms is seen as reason to go apeshit. There is no logical reason anyone needs an assault rifle or a 40-round magazine, but if they don't have a criminal record, are willing to go through the waiting period and know how to safely store it, then I don't really have an issue with it. This case is certainly not the right one to start the discussion, since all of the guns were legally acquired and only a psychic could know this was coming with this kid. And let's please drop this thought that because he killed three people with a knife that somehow equates with him killing the same number of people with the gun. He was only able to kill with the knife because they were his roommates and he likely had the element of surprise. He did far more damage with the gun (remember, he also wounded 13 people), and he wouldn't have done near that amount of damage running around the streets with a knife. It's just a silly argument.

Loughner. That guy's nuttier than the rest, it seems. And no, I don't think any of them have any social skills whatsoever. Maybe they could bond over their hatred of society, but that's about it.

1). Who are you to say what's acceptable grieving behavior and what isn't? There is no "acceptable grieving behavior."
2). "Shall not be infringed" does not mean anybody can own any weapon they want and take it anywhere they want, no questions asked.

  12. I've seen doppelgängers of all of those murderers in various press boxes.
