Here are the attendance numbers for the first two games of the Milwaukee-SF series with a comparison of average season attendance for the Brewers:

FRIDAY: 43,121 (sellout) SATURDAY: 43,180 (sellout)

    SEASON AVERAGE 34,040

    SELLOUTS (before Friday): 16 (of 50 dates - 35%)

I don't know what today's attendance figure is, with Bonds sitting out.

  2. 16 of 50 is 35 percent?

So Bonds ties Hank on Tuesday, on his birthday, against the Hammer's old team.

Is Vegas laying odds on that one? Man, it would be just like him, wouldn't it?

Just reported via USA Today (sorry don't have the link):

Even if Bud Selig is in attendance when Bonds breaks the HR record, he will not participate in any on-field celebration.

How hard is it to google Barry Bonds and Bud Selig and get the first link that pops up?

For those of you who want to read it:

    Took 10 seconds to find.

    That's weak.

    Selig should be there.

Until they kick Bonds out of MLB &/or erase all of his records/stats he is part of MLB & his achievements should be recognized.

This "protest" is all for PR and there is no logic or "fairness" at work here.

Otherwise, I can think of many other "protests" that should be effected around the league.

None of that is important. Let's keep our eyes on the prize here.

What's really on the inquiring minds of SJ is whether you're going to be there, JDV?

And riddle me this chicken-or-egg quandary, do you use the Bonds' tickets to woo chicks or do the chicks come to you because they know you have the Bonds tickets? Along those lines, will Bonds or JDV hit 755 first?

I'm going to go dump my water heater on myself for feeding your ego.

Ha ha, like I really need Giant's tix to get chicks.

That is the best laugh I had all day. Good point that BB has a decent chance to break the record here in SF. I will have to look @ my schedule to see if I want to deal with the madness in person or if I would rather scope it in HD.

I think I need to make a Bonds vid - might have to incorporate SJ in this one ;)

Time to rally Rok & Cran for some artistic excellence. Any other SJ VA who wants in ping me to get in this historic vid.

From Tom Brokaw via the Jim Rome (radio) Show:

"I think that Sports Illustrated is going to do a big feature on (Hank Aaron) when Bonds breaks the record"

Now, Brokaw may have been referring to the piece Verducci just did, I'm not sure. If it is not Verducci's article he is referring to, however, this is something to look forward to whenever Bonds get to 756.

I know you just love the woods scene. Probably brings back sweet memories.
Anyway, the way Selig is not mentioning Bonds is a travesty. He's the commissioner. I know he's paid by the owners but no doubt his action is a reflection of the owners.
They're going to milk this for a long as they can because it keeps the game in people's minds. Once Barry breaks the record, he's going to be treated like trash and thrown to the wolves. I see it coming.
When Aaron called it quits in his final season, there was no fanfare. Hell, he couldn't get a job in baseball and wouldn't have one if it wasn't for Ted Turner.
The same thing happened with Ruth when quit.
One thing about baseball owners, once they get what they want out of you, you are history and a mystery.
