    I LOVED Tony Fernandez as a kid. How a teenager from New England in the pre-Internet days could decide Tony Fernandez was one of his favorite players remains a mystery, but I loved that dude. Thought he was gonna win the MVP one year and stocked up on his baseball cards to put myself thru college, but alas, it did not work out. I read recently he was quite ill, hopefully he is OK.

    He was a huge favourite here in Toronto, just a great shortstop who was pretty good at second and short too. Loved to watch him hit.
