Agreed. How someone (I'm looking at you Vombatus) can live in the Tampa area and not have tried Jai Alai is beyong me. Loved the Maduro for a while, but the novelty has worn off. Cigar City even has a brew pub now. Never been yet, but will get there eventually. I've heard the Tocabaga Red is fantastic as well, but have not tried it. Yet.

I'm on vacation down here, and those are what I tried on day one!!! I will definitely try the Jai Alai before I leave.

OK, having the Jai Alai right now. As advertised, very good. I always need a little recalibrating when I hit IPAs, so the first few sips were a bit overpowering. But I settled into it quickly and I am enjoying it greatly.

Now I have five more left and I am going to try to repair a screen door with a drill and other tools before the 7.5% ABV kicks in. That reminds me of a cartoon from Matt Groenig's Life in Hell cartoon that had Binky passed out on the floor with drill holes all over a wall, and the caption was "If you drink, don't drill." That cartoon was circa 1983 before the Simpsons.

Anyway, thanks for the Jai Alai tip.

Blue Moon dominates? Never expected that. And why is Coors Light No. 1 in Oklahoma?

Had my first "session" IPA. Founders All Day IPA. Blech. The bad side of pine bark.
    Terrible IPA.

Try their Centennial Ale. Pretty damn awesome.

Check the bottling dates of any Founder's IPAs (if you are drinking out of the bottle, that is). All of them need to be consumed as fresh as possible - they fade into just plain bitterness quickly.

I dig All Day, nice low ABV brew with some bite. And I generally prefer citrusy hops to the piney, resinous ones (and All Day does lean more to the piney side but I still like it).

Any of the MI-brewed IPAs/APAs using Centennial as their primary/sole hop varietal (Founders Centennial, Bells Two-Hearted and Short's Huma Lupa Licious) are all top-notch.

Wasn't a huge fan of the All Day, but I at least understand the point of it. You can drink more than three without blacking out.

Had three pints of the latest Stone Enjoy By on Sunday, along with two pints of the Green Flash Bullet. And I don't remember what happened after that. :-[

    I've had it. Great beer.

It was a draft at The Joe last night. Who knows how old that barrel is. That may have been a problem. It just seemed to be missing a malt backbone. Take Bell's Hopslam, for example, despite being over-the-top hoppy, it still has a richness in the background. I felt that All Day didn't.

I don't understand the concept of session beer. I can drink double IPAs all day. Man the fuck up, people.

Pretty sure you can't compare Hopslam with All Day. That's not fair to All Day.

That said, I don't really like All Day. If I'm drinking an IPA, I want it to be an IPA. An IPA isn't supposed to be a "session" beer, in my mind. And I say this despite the fact that Founders is my favorite brewery (although Ballast Point is gaining).

Picked up my first 4-pack of Founders Breakfast Stout last night. Can't wait to crack the first one during Premier League action this weekend!
