It's when I venture into the triple IPAs when I run into trouble. ... Enjoy By is 9.3 percent, Bullet is 10.1. Throw back enough of those in a row, welp.

I do like a Founders. Had the Breakfast Stout last week. Very coffee-like but dry and smooth. Their Centennial IPA is outstanding. As is the Double Trouble. (I think that's Founders, anyway.)

Breakfast Stout is my favorite, somewhat mass produced craft out there. I know it's only available part of the year, but it's widely available and, for my money, the best value you can get. If you like stouts.

Went to Dinosaur BBQ in Syracuse last weekend and tried a handful of new beers.

    Syracuse Pale Ale was decent.
Ithaca Nut Brown was OK. Little too nutty for my tastes.
Troegs Hop Back Amber was very good.
Middle Ages Wailing Wench was probably my favorite.
The Empire Cream Ale was a pretty bland, I thought. Wasn't a fan.

I was just impressed by my ability to stay away from the Abita beers and try something new.

Try the Canadian and/or Kentucky Breakfast Stouts unless you don't like whiskey. They're both amazing.

You talking about Bourbon Barrel Stout from Bluegrass Brewing? That's great stuff.

No. These are really difficult-to-find (sometimes sold on eBay for like $300 a bottle) versions of the Founders Breakfast Stout. They're both rated 100 on Beer Advocate. I've only had one bottle of the Kentucky Breakfast Stout and two or three of the Canadian Imperial Breakfast Stout.

Regular Breakfast Stout also scores a 100.

They haven't made the Canadian in almost two years now, and it doesn't appear in the works this year, either. But KBS is about as good as it gets. I managed five bottles from local stores this past year. Amazing score.

Had the Florida Lager last night in Georgetown, DC. Smooth with a little hoppiness.

Also sort of got engaged last night. Two years ago, got "halfway engaged" (she asked me, I said yes) at Martin's Tavern. Last night we did the other half, although I am not sure what we are calling it. I said pre-engaged or engaged, she said change in status - committed). I have a couple of hoops and hurdles to jump through and over first. 13.5 years of dating and still working on agreeing on stuff! :)

    Happy holidays!

Had a decent local brew, Rusty Chain, on tap at a Buffalo Sabres game in October. Last two days I have been wondering where Mill St.'s Cobblestone Stout has been all my life.
