Brewed a Pliny the Elder clone yesterday. 230 IBUs at 8.7 ABV. My little yeasties are tearing it up this afternoon. Can't wait.

I'm looking for ideas for my next batch. Could you share the name? Thanks.

Edit: Wait, Google says that is the name. Never mind. Oy.

This is the recipe I used.

Russian River gave the recipe to Zymurgy magazine in the mid 2000s.

I knocked the two-row down to 13, bumped the sugar to a pound and knocked the Carapils and and Crystal down to a half pound to make my measurements easier.

Pliny the Younger tapping across Philly this week. Desperately want to get to one of the tappings, but it might not be in the cards. Just an amazing beer, and I hope I have a chance to indulge.

Happy KBS Hunt Day to those outside of Michigan! Managed to score two bottles, down from five last year. But I wasn't doing any truck-following, so I'm thrilled.

Knocked down some cellar items this evening...

New Glarus Thumbprint Barleywine, Avery Brabant (2009), Jolly Pumpkin Biere de Mars Grand Reserve 2011. Then killed a bomber of Pipeworks Santa vs Ninja. It's been a solid Saturday.

Heading to New England next weekend, checking out dead people (Mrs. Fly's genealogy research), eating some great food (see Foodie Thread) and getting some great beers. Lucky that it coincides with Allagash releasing their first blueberry-based sour (Lil Sal), Hill Farmstead's 4th Anniversary, Lawson's first release of Triple Sunshine (Triple IPA) and Alchemist releasing some special stuff. It'll be a beer-y great week and change.

I have been remiss on a few of my finds.
I scored two bottles of Sam Adams Triple Bock. Last brewed in 1997. Damn it was good...but very different. It was brewed with maple syrup and you can tell. It poured like a cognac.
I cellared a few DFH 120s and World Wide Stouts, and a few KBS from this year.

I homebrew, so I have been enjoying a few creations of my own. A Strong Scotch Ale and a Hard Lemonade Ale (a blonde with lots of lemonade flavor (sugar and lemons)).

Had some DFH 120 about a month ago. Good stuff.

I just kegged an American Amber Ale that I used The Alchemist's conan yeast on. Really English flavor.

    Sounds good!
For the amount of love my wife has for DFH, I was surprised she had not had 120 yet...even though she is not a IPA fan.
From what I have heard, this year's batch is very "hot" and needs some time to settle down. I may try it next spring.
