David and Chris Lynskey were riding buddies of my crew at the Pickle Barrel in Chattanooga around 1987-1989 when they were just transitioning from making airplane parts to frames. IIRC David was a beast of a crit rider, and he’d also lead us up Lookout Mountain on Saturday morning milk runs. I shoulda bought one of his frames then; I’m sure it would still be road worthy.

Interesting to me that Titan and Titanic and titanium are all named for the same branch of early Greek mythology, the Titans - all of whom were overthrown, cast out, and consigned to the underworld.

Although I’m not getting into any mini sub, here’s a good analogy for calculated risks vs foolish endeavors:
I’ll ride rides at Disney, Dollywood, Carowinds, etc but I don’t get on traveling carnival rides.
The former is engineered, inspected, and insured. The latter … well, I spent too much time at county fairs in my youth watching those things being slapped up and torn down and the people who were doing it.

While I think that brilliant posts like these border on tasteless, I will concede that if I ever die in a manner such as these people did, I will deserve to be lampooned in a way similar to what these posts are doing. Keep ’em coming.

Is this the end of the thread, or only the Beginnings.

While the Chicago-jack is amusing we should reserve this thread for posts about the mini-sub implosions and the Titanic et Cetera
