    Dear board,
Had to cover middle school girls basketball tonight(yeah, I'm the middle school guy at my paper ...), and my ears are still ringing some nine hours later because this kid constantly screamed at the freaking top of her lungs into my right ear.

I know it's great that her school was winning, but damn. I even asked her to stop screaming into my ear if she insisted on screaming all game. Sometimes I really hate my job.

    Dear KY,

Your first mistake was going to work at a newspaper that covers middle school sports.

    Just saying,

    JJ,
I actually don't mind it -- some of the time. It's only one night each season I have to cover it, so it's not all bad. That girl, though, and parents who don't understand why we don't cover every game really grind my gears.

    Dear fine people of SportsJournalists.com,

When in a bathroom with five stalls, don't choose the stall directly next to the only occupied one. And if you are going to groan as if you're shitting out your colon, at least have the decency to wait until I'm done washing my hands and out of the bathroom to leave the stall yourself, so I don't have to always look at you in a funny way and recall your painful-sounding shit that was a little too close for comfort whenever I see you, like I now do with Guy-I-Kind-Of-Work-With-But-Not-Directly-But-We-Have-Many-Mutual-Friends.

    Sincerely,

    Dear world,

ITunes U might be the greatest thing the internet has ever created. I can't believe I didn't know about it before yesterday.

    Love,
    Rick

    Dear board,

If you thought I was arrogant about my opinions on issues I had a merely passing knowledge on before, just wait. It's about to get much worse.

    Love,
    Rick

    Dear Fucknut,

Thank you for "falling asleep", blowing that stop sign and then hitting my car while it was parked in front of my house. You are only 17, so I would love to know where you work that you are so tired at 3 in the afternoon you nod off in the car.

It wasn't enough that you did that, and forced us to be down a car, and soon with a car payment we didn't have before. But now we're going to be carless for an extra month because said car loan would fuck up our refinancing of the house if we get it before the closing.

So for that I say fuck you very much!

    Dear World,

I could use a quiet night at home, please. I didn't get to bed until 2:45 this morning because I was on call at the hospital and got about 4 hours of sleep before coming to work all day.
So, please let me go home, write the one freelance feature I need to do, pay some bills and get to bed at a decent hour without another page from the hospital at 11:45 tonight.
Thanks and I hope you can come through for me on this one.

    JosephC.Myers

P.S. I got paged at 9:30 p.m. last night, so I didn't make it to bed until 12:45 a.m. So much for that decent night's sleep......

    Dear Cape,
Maybe he was on his way home from school? Doesn't excuse what happened, but you said he's 17.
