    Folks,

Does anyone else have to call their bank when they are going out of town for more than a day or two? Every time I go somewhere I have to. I was in NYC for three days and had my card declined when I went to a bodega to buy some fruit and drinks for my hotel room. Normally I would have paid cash, but I left the cash in my room. It is really annoying to have to ask my bank to allow me access to MY MONEY!

    Bodie,

Better that than allowing some creep to use your card for five days before they notice you're also using it 3000 miles away. :)

    Bodie,

Switch to a national bank, not a local credit union or keepin' all that cash under your mattress.

Also, stop shooting up the bagmen for messin' with your paper. You need a better rep when you start recruitin' in your new 'hood.

    ducking and covering,

P.S. Want a more serious answer? Start with what IJAG posted. The fact that you didn't charge a cross-country flight likely raised a red flag. All the cash you withdrew to pay your new suppliers probably set off alarms as well. The company should've called you, but be thankful they're paying attention.

    PD and IJAG,

I am gonna switch banks when I move. I don't know how much of a pain in the ass it will be but I have to go to a big McBank. It sucks because keeping your money in credit unions is better for the economy.

    Bodie,

I have Bank of America, and they've locked my card when I haven't told them too. It's not a big bank/small bank thing.

    Bodie,

When you travel, use your card to pay for the gas or the ticket to get you there. The bank will put 2 + 2 together. But if you use cash all the time, and then out of the blue use the card to by some crap from some dude in NYC, the bank will have a red flag thrown.

    Dear Maintenance,

Did one of you take the surge protector that was on my desk? Having to climb behind it each time to plug in my laptop is really bad on my back.

    Dear Board,

When did it become acceptable to make phone calls ON SPEAKER from your cellphone at a casual food place, like Baja Fresh? The guy at the next table made 3 calls in about 10 minutes. Did I miss the memo or something?

    Hugs,

    Dyno

    Dear Dyno,

Your phone must have been on vibrate when the memo was sent out, and your voicemail wasn't activated.

    Dear Dools,

Thanks! I need to get on that. It's a good thing that tortilla chip I threw at the guy missed. Clearly, I was in the wrong.

    Thanks a million,

    Dear Dyno,

No harm done, unless you had already dipped the chip.

    Devil,

I don't pay for flights and after I complete this move, I am hoping to never have to pay for gas again. I use my card everywhere. Like I said, I get why they do it and I appreciate the safety and all that but it is annoying.
