    IJAG,

Best of luck. An interview is your chance to show them what you are good at and what you can do. If they called you in for a sit down, they are interested in you and what you can do.

Be confident. You can do almost anything you put your mind to.

    IJAG,

Good luck with the interview. I'm sure you'll knock them dead. You're good at your job and they'd have to be crazy not to hire you (I'm a Behavioral Health Tech, so I know crazy when I see it ;D ).

    Regards,

    Joseph

Dear People Who Dress For Success Even When They Don't Have A Job Interview:

I'm not one of you people. But as luck would have it, I have a job interview, and I need your help.

I don't have many ties and they're either dirty, too short or in some way disreputable. No, I don't know why it didn't occur to me to check them earlier. Don't judge me! Fuck you, asshole! I'll figure it out myself! Thanks for nothing, jerks!

Anyhow, so I have a charcoal grey pinstripe suit. I have a fat fat neck, and it makes buying dress shirts impossible because the ones that can accommodate my neck are way too big everywhere else. So I was going to wear a complimentary button down shirt. Can I get away with not wearing a tie and have the top button of my shirt be unbuttoned?

Follow up question: It's a two-day interview. Am I good with only wearing the suit one day and wearing a good shirt/tie/slacks the second day, or should I wear the suit both days?

Yeah, stupid stupid questions that I should know the answer to, but it's been forever since I've been on a job interview and I'm breaking a six-month stretch in which I've worn jeans, t-shirts/polos and Timberlands for all but one day. I could use the help.

    Sincerely,

    Occupant

    Dear Occupy MM,

I don't have the answers to any of your questions ... but I'll be thinking of you and hoping you knock this out of the park.

    Seconded. With a vengeance.

My interview lasted all of three minutes. I walked in, handed him my application packet they made me fill out, then told him I had to go. Went to my folks' house, threw everything I brought in my suitcase, said goodbye to Winston, and headed south with my dad in tow. House was broken into last night. From all I heard, there was one cat left in the house. I got home, forced in my back door, and luckily found all three cats. No working a/c, somehow, so they're warm (86 degrees at 11 p.m.). But at least they're all there.

So tomorrow, I have to figure out how I'm going to pay for a door AND an a/c unit possibly with at the very least $500 up front (deductible). Could be 8 times that amount. I have zero dollars, and I blew off a job interview.

If karma exists, it's assraping me this year.

A very kind and generous offer. But this is my own doing. I'll figure it out somehow. :)

    MM,

Good luck with the job interview, even if you hate wearing ties. I'll say some prayers and send some good thoughts your way.

    IJAG,

I'm really sorry to hear about what happened. I'm glad the cats are OK, though. If there's anything we can do to help, let us know and I'm sure everybody on here would be more than glad to pitch in. Sending some good thoughts and prayers your way.

    Regards to both of you,

    Joseph
