    Dear All,

My old shop posted my old job today. The one they just had to eliminate due to budget cuts back in January. No call asking me if I wanted to go back (I would have said no, but it would have been nice to have that courtesy). They knew this was a bad choice back in January. Now they reverse it, but the result of their wishy-washy-ness is they save a couple grand and my life is in shambles. The sick part is I want them to call me. I want them to beg me to come back, just so I can tell the publisher to kiss my ass. Him, I hope he gets herpes and dies a slow painful death.

    Dear board,

Miraculously, the rice thing worked. Who fucking knew? Now I'm five hours from the cab coming to take me to the airport and I can't even get myself motivated to start packing. I hate the deadline-driven aspect of my personality.

Rice has worked for me, too. In the future, if you need to make a phone call in an emergency like that, Skype will do it for a couple of bucks.

    Dear Board,
One of my friends passed away earlier this morning of an apparent overdose. That's some news to wake up to ...

He was five years behind me in school, but we had become pretty good friends over the years. We hadn't talked much recently, but we still considered each other a friend.

I'm gonna miss you, Jake. As will a lot of folks. I'll see you again some day, buddy.

    Board:

My flight doesn't take off for 2 hours. I'm already two tall boys of Fat Tire in. I want to stay here and drunk(ish) post, but there's no power source here, so I'm offline in 38 minutes.

    SEMI-DILEMMA!

    Douche and douchette,

I'm already stretching it expecting the company to cover a nearly $40 dinner at the airport. I don't think they'd go for multiple drinks on the plane.

    IJAG,

Remember all that money you spent on wasteful shit like food and shelter? Bet you wish you had some back now for booze.

    Frugally yours,
    Rick

    Rick,

No shit. Thankfully, the $400 I spent on clothes/shoes/jewelry for this trip were all on store credit cards!

    Oh wait
