    Dear w'tart,

Thanks. Gonna give this sleep thing another try. Plus, I need to keep my iPad charged up so staying up and surfing online is probably not a good idea.

Sandy - STFU! I'm trying to sleep here.

    Dear SJ (and JD) -

All is well here. I have not yet lost power. I phrase it that way because the lights have flickered a few times and I lost power very briefly a few hours ago. Apparently, most of my neighborhood is still without so I'm not so bold as to say it's all over with. My mom in NY lost power early last night and is currently at the neighbors' house, where there is a generator. My windows survived to rattle another day.

    Thanks for checking on me!

    Not totally relieved yet,

    Dyno

    Dyno,

    Keep hanging in there.

I've survived many a hurricane down here in Florida.

    Dear Board,

All is well. Thanks for your concern and kind thoughts. I made it through the scary night. My mom in NY lost power, but some kind neighbors with a generator have taken her in. Once she's back home, powered up and does a full assessment of the trees on our property and the roof and once the intermittent outages in my own neighborhood stop, I'll fully relax.

I have family that lost their home in a hurricane, so they always worry me. Plus, I'm a wimp.

    Hugs,

    Dyno

    Dyno,

Glad you and your mom are OK. I know it sounds corny or whatever word you want to put in here, but as long as y'all are OK, everything else can be fixed, rebuilt, etc. I really hope everything turns out alright with you and your family.

    Regards,

    Dear World,

Thank you for being so kind to me before, during, and after Post-Tropical Cyclone (or as my newspaper calls her Superstorm) Sandy. There were so many people who went out of their way to be kind, whether by loaning me a power inverter -- definitely buying one when the crisis passes! -- or just flashing a smile on the street.

I am particularly amazed by my friends, both from around the block and across the country, who simply asked, "Are you OK?"

Since my power went out on Monday night, I didn't actually see very much of the devastation caused by the storm. I was so unbelievably lucky -- and that was even before my lights came back on today.

    I am forever grateful.

    PD,

Glad to hear you're OK. Didn't know you were up in that part of the country, but nevertheless glad you made it through relatively unscathed.

    Regards from Down South,

    Dear Cheapskate

If you can't afford to tip because you're a single mom, maybe you shouldn't be eating expensive meals in restaurants.

    Judgementally,

    HC

PS: What if your server is a single mom?
