    So close!

    Dear Sandman,

I've been awake since 9:30 a.m. Saturday and worked about 12 hours. Thank you for allowing me to pull an all-nighter and safely arrive at Seattle-Tacoma International Airport despite the drunk guy behind me on I-5. When I arrive back in Denver, please let my hour drive to Fort Collins not result in a fatal crash ... or any crash for that matter.

    Thanks,

    Matt

    Dear Supervisory Mechanic,

You asked where, in my car, the wheel lock is stored. I told you precisely the spot in the glove compartment.

Why did I then get multiple calls telling me to come back to the shop to empty my trunk full o'crap? And why, if the mechanic didn't want to touch my property, was some of it on the floor?

After emptying the trunk, I found the wheel lock -- in the glove compartment. Right where I said it would be.

I may be a car-clueless chick, but I know where I store my stuff. I'll reassemble my trunk after you finish the maintenance you'd said would be done an hour ago.

    late for work,
    PaperDoll

    Dear son's gymnastics, err, gym:

Thank you for whoever's iPod was playing at practice tonight. Hearing "Christmas Wrapping" made a crappy day less so.

    Not forgetting the cranberries

    Dear Uncle Randle:

I never got to know you as well as the rest of mom's family, since you married in my mid 20s, when I had already left Tennessee for good. But you were always incredibly kind to me and everyone you saw. Your last conscious action on Earth was baptizing two young girls into the Christian faith you were a credit to and loved. For me, I'm most thankful that you gave Marsha, my favorite aunt, that which she never expected to get - a marriage. For 12 years you cared for her and gave unconditional love. God bless you.

    Love
    Your nephew dixiehack.

    Dixie,

Sorry for the loss. It's sadly incredible all the things we wish we could say to someone we love after it's too late. Glad to know he made such a positive impact on this Earth.

    Dear board,
Been having a discussion with a distant relative of mine who seems to think I can't be a Christian and want everyone to have the same civil rights.

He got his panties in wad over my liking a photo of two Marines getting married in the White House and went off on me, saying there's no way I can be a Christian and support gay marriage.

I'm fed up with the guy, and I'm glad I never see him -- even though he only lives an hour away.
