    Dear Board,

    Whew.

Stepfather's procedure went well. Had to put him under completely, which was against my mother's initial wishes, but the powers-to-be apparently convinced her this was the easiest way to do the procedure and minimize his pain.

Supposedly, they got all the malignant cancer on the spot on his scalp and patched it with a graft. Could use more meds and fluids, but if that's the worst news, it should all be good.

Thanks to all who sent their thoughts ... take care ...

    Dear folks,

My father is in the hospital. Had what he thought was a heart attack on Friday. Turns out to be atrial fibrilation, which caused an episode on Monday night where he nearly died at the hospital when his heart rate dropped to 30. Yesterday they told him he wouldn't need a pacemaker. Today, they changed the story and NOW he has an infection in his body (don't know where).

I'm mentally about to break. Any kind words or thoughts to whatever deities you worship would be appreciated.

    Exhausted and worried,
    T_D

    Tommy,

Just prayed for you and your dad. Hope everything turns out well and that they're able to figure out the infection.

    Regards,

    Joseph

    Dear T_D,

May they not only get the diagnosis correct ASAP, but also work toward getting your father better. All the best to you ...

    Take care ...

    Tommy, good wishes.

Dear co-worker who is way too intense,

You're very wearing to work with. If I still had substantial hair on my head, it'd be pulled out.

    Chill out.

    Love,

    Dear board,

I have done it. I have laid eyes on Nick Punto. He had two hits, a stolen base, a grounder right at someone, a great defensive play and a headfirst slide into first base. The entire ouevre, if you will.

    Two more games.

    Dear weather gods,

My lawn is watered. Thanks. Now take away the rain so I may feast my eyes on Nick Punto one more time. Please and thank you.

    Xan,

It's so much better in person. I wasn't even prepared.
