Don't get to do this often, because my goat-smellin' ass is usually in bed by this time. But, since it is high school football season and my boss has decided to further abuse me, I get to put my game summary on our website. Hooray for me. So, I will do what I need to do to get the results on the internets so a couple people can read them, then I will likely just drop in to say "Howdy."

Dear government of my beloved country,

I try to be a good citizen. I vote. I pay taxes. I engage my peers in dialogue about civic, political and social issues in an effort to enable all of use to self-govern more effectively.

I support our military when they serve rightly and honorably. I volunteer when I can. I use my eyes, ears and voice as a journalist to do my part to make our country, and with it the world, a better place to live.

I don't understand why you, the men in women tasked with leading us in these endeavors , can't seem to do the same.

Sometimes you make me sick. Sometimes you make me angry. Mostly, though, you make me profoundly saddened and disappointed that you're evidently incapable of living up, collectively, to our highest ideals.
