ARods career postseason batting average is 20 points higher than Mantles.

    I just looked it up.

Friggin ESPN and Post for shoving that crap down our throats.

A-Rod puts fannies in the seats. He may crumble at crunch time but man he kicks ass during the regular season.

OK. The big debate in M's country is, would you trade Adam Jones and Brandon Morrow for Santana.

    My answer: In a heartbeat.

Cano and Hughes for Santana? Ask someone in a baseball front office. As for me, in a heartbeat.

Whether the Twins would go for it, now there's a tougher question.

Do you really think that the Yankees wouldn't have drawn the 4 million at home and the best road attendance in the AL without ARod? Did Rodriguez put enough fannies in the the Texas seats to pay for his contract with the Rangers?
Put him in Tampa, and they won't draw 30K a night in his second season.

A winning team puts people in the seats and eyes on the local TV package, not Alex.

The difference is you know Cano is a .300 hitter in the bigs with power who plays second base.

He has done it for 2+ seasons. You cannot say the same for Jones and Morrow.

He'd be a good fit with the Angels. They really need somebody to bat paired with Vlad. Their lineup lacks power and although Gary Matthews Jr. and Juan Rivera, when healthy, are good players, A-Rod would help the team tremendously with his insane offensive stats.

Devil, if you think the Twins would take Cano and Hughes for Sanata, with nothing else thrown in, you have no clue what you're talking about.

Cano is a good player, not the star you make him out to be. Hughes is not even an established MLB pitcher.

Actually, Cano has missed more time with injuries in his short career than Santana. He is not nearly as established as Satana, either. And let's see him hit 20 homers in a season before we project 30, ok? Cano is a high-average hitter with decent power, limited speed and mediocre defensive skills. If the Twins were foolish enough to take him straight up for Santana, Cashman would jump at that before they come to their senses. Throw in Hughes and it might make sense.

Cano and Hughes for Santana is the starting point of the conversation...Twins will get more than that

I'm sure the Twins would inquire about Chamberlain.

Attendance fell in Texas with ARod on the team and went up after he left. Attendance can't go up in Boston ; the Dodgers, Philly, the Angels and the Cubs are not at capacity but pretty close. Rodriguez could not make a financial difference to justify his salary in large market teams that have winning records. Small market teams with losing records would make Rodriguez look like the worst mercenary in sports and provide him with no chance at post season redemption.
His best shot is San Fran which will take an attendance hit without Bonds, but lacks the overall talent to compete and San Diego which could use him to add a few hundred thousand to the attendance rolls as well as having a pretty good team.

Personally, I'd love to see him with the Nationals. He can play short next to Zimmerman and open a new stadium in the Nation's Capital.
