Accept your clown status gracefully, is my point. Dance for us when it's appropriate, not when the grownups are talking.

    That's a good lad.

I'm far from a clown but if that's what you think, it is what it is. Let me know when you've matured.

A-Rod's postseason OPS is higher than Jeter's.

Interesting to compare them. Jeter is great in the ALDS, but struggles in the ALCS. A-Rod does the reverse.

Didn't ESPN have some stat this week that A-Rod was the only player in baseball history to strike out to end a playoff game five times?

I think, fair or unfair, the perception of A-Rod is that he wilts under pressure. You can bat .400 for the series, but if you're one of the best players in baseball history and you strike out with a game or series on the line, people are going to remember that.

Here's the other thing that doesn't help...

In the eight full seasons (not counting this season) since A-Rod joined the Yankees, they made one World Series, which they won.
In the eight full seasons before A-Rod arrived, the Yankees made it to six World Series and won four.

One player does not make a baseball team, but it's not like the criticism of A-Rod is completely unwarranted.

Sounds like David Stern is calling the shots.

I think it comes down to, if the game is on the line, who do you want at the plate?

    Right now? Jeter.

At any random point in their career? A-Rod.

If the game is on the line, I want a guy who can work the count and work the pitcher. Foul off pitches as needed along the way, then jump on a good pitch. That's not really A-Rod now, is it?

How World Series many rings would the Yankees have won since 2003 had they signed just a very good, solid, dependable third baseman for a fraction of the cost? A guy who performed up to his own standards, or exceeded them, when it matters most?
