    Re: The ARod question

The discussion of the Yankees signing a lesser third baseman assumes that, like every other team, they would get an upgrade elsewhere. With their unlimited funds, I don't think that's the case because they're going to spend to their heart's delight anyway.

Robby Cano's average has dropped more than 400 points in the last week now that it "matters most."

    Shit happens.

Cano also isn't striking out more than half the time -- he has one K -- and he does have a couple of doubles. He has a chance up there.

Rick was mocking me for noting A-Rod's check swings, but it's clear the guy has no plan, no confidence, no shot.

I was mocking you for your confirmation bias.

The great thing about baseball is that if you predict failure enough, you'll always have it confirmed eventually, while still being able to be completely wrong about the big picture.

And the other great thing about baseball is that people believe they can analyze the whole sport without watching. And other people can predict what will happen, comment on it as it happens, discuss why it is happening, be completely right and still be "wrong."

I've been watching. He is lost. But that's just me and Girardi with our confirmation bias.

Tell me the story again about how he never comes up big in the postseason, except for the times that don't count for various reasons.

Is it true that the only time the Yankees have made it out of the NLDS since 2001 were all after series wins against Minnesota? I have no idea what that means in the bigger picture, if anything, but that's interesting.

And you post again all the times he went 1 for 9 in two games so this series is really no biggie.

It's not that he doesn't come up big sometimes. It's that he keeps looking lost up there at the plate. I thought the same thing in last year's playoffs, for another example.

I think Rick is more in love with A-Rod than Manky is with Jeter... :D

No that is not true. The Yankees play in the AL.

"Obviously I'm not happy and, you know, I was disappointed. You want to be in there in the worst way," Rodriguez said.

    He was!
