If it was 5-7 years ago Reyes and ARod at SS and 3B would be pretty sick.

Olney was talking on ESPN last night that A-Rod to Miami might be a real possibility, but that the Yankees would probably have to eat almost every cent of the contract.

Olney said he had spoked to several GMs and asked what ARod would get as a free agent and said the consensus was 1-year, $5 million, which is laughable when you consider what he's owed by the Yanks.

I hate to agree with Manky, but I could see ARod doing well somewhere if he's not haunted by the looming postseason. :D

When I said earlier in this thread it would be hard to find a team with money that was also run by morons, it's fair to say I underestimated the Marlins. It would be so very ARod to go to Miami, rejuvenate his career, break the HR record in front of 16,000 people on a Wednesday afternoon, and then the franchise folds at the end of the year.

Interesting in that LeBron, Kobe and A-Rod all went through stretches early in their careers where they were amazing to deal with... LeBron seemed media savvy beyond his years in high school and as a rookie. Kobe was a quote machine and a A-Rod went through a stretch where he addressed several writers as "Mr. (Last name)." He did that to me at an All-Star game workout and I just about fell over...

I'm not arguing for a second that they're not all complete douchebags now...

I think A-Rod is fairly adored in Miami, though, still. Plus he has that implanted voice modulator that lets him sound more Latin when the situation calls for it, and as long as the batteries don't run out that should help him too.

And that's exactly why I suggested the Marlins. Maybe Stephen Ross can be goaded into making A-Rod one of the Dolphins' celebrity owners, too. That would be so Miami.

So he's going to Chicago then?

I can't imagine that any player would make a dramatic improvement on Miami's attendance... They thought Guillen would help, how'd that work out for them...

I still can't see any other team taking A-Rod, and as stupid as the Marlins may be, I would certainly hope they make the Yankees practically give him away and pay at least 90 percent of that contract.

And now it's, well, pretty sick.

    Or sickening. One of those.

Nobody walks away from $115,000,000.00 Karl Marx wouldn't walk away from that kind of money. Even for people with money, that's real money. If he plays the next 5 years, the under/over on home runs is 70

I was thinking the Yanks take back Buerhle and Bell, who have 66 million remaining, and the Yanks pay half of the rest of A-Rod's deal (24 million).
