    Re: The ARod question

Torre conned Clemens into thinking he had October guts by starting him in Game 4 of the San Diego series sweep.

Girardi has no such path with this circus clown.

I'm actually kind of hoping for a pinch hit HR from him tonight just to make things even more chaotic.

This truly does thrust everything we were talking about on the first three pages of this thread to the forefront. He played the good solider on the Ibanez stuff, and even Chavez hitting for him last night. But Jesus, sitting him takes it to another level. And if he does pinch hit and comes in and strikes out, the offseason is going to be EPIC.

Can I just point out that we are all here, discussing the hottest-right-now topic in sports, on a thread started days ago by MankyJimy forecasting the end of A-Rod's Yankees career.

The man is a message board virtuoso.

I've long been an advocate of Manky's greatness. I'm glad others are seeing the light.

Screams "Marlins" at you, doesn't it? Doubt that they would open the wallet, but the local boy would help fill some empty seats for a while.

Rick, this is going to sound disrespectful, but it's not meant to be: Can you make the contrarian's argument that sitting him is a mistake here. Can it be made period? You've argued this post season performance is not an example of choking, and that's his critics have cherry-picked statistics. In the eyes of a statistician, isn't he MORE likely to get a hit tonight then after this long slump? Isn't he due for some regression toward his mean?

It does make some sense, but Marlins are pretty strapped financially and don't have a DH.

You are a jackass and the more you post, the more that become apparent. I won't trade barbs with you because frankly, you're not worth it and I have no desire to tie up the thread with your antics. I don't know if you've ever covered MLB but I strongly suspect you've sat on your fat ass and haven't.
ARod isn't the same player he was. That's not even a discussion. The point I made is that he's still a serviceable third baseman whose credentials are good enough to play on many MLB teams, even at his advanced age.
What part of that is so damn difficult for you not to understand?

So would any of us not thrown a fit if you are in Arod's situation upon hearing you won't be starting in a do or die game? I would have flipped out so I'd imagine he threw a fit too.

There is also the chance that Arod has an injury he has been playing with that no one knows about and it has flared up. Half the time that ends up being the reason but no one knows it until after the game.
