Good call on Dryden. And Clarke won the Selke the year before he quit.

My wife and I discussed this one a couple days ago. It made sense when Edge explained it (IIRC, he missed a full year when he was still kind of upper-midcard due to a neck injury), but it certainly was surprising, and it actually made me sad.

This guy's retirement was pretty abrupt. Hit his boss that way. ("What the f--- you gonna do then now?")

Look after his investments, of course.

It's not until 3:08 of the video, but it's not heavy lifting to wait for it:

Well, shit, if we're going to open that can ... here's a pretty abrupt retirement.

McIlvaine's injuries had a lot to do with it. Think it was mostly foot or ankle and his last few seasons he was out all the time.

Jim McIlvaine was cut with money owed by the Nets. His contract was roundly criticized as one of the worst in the NBA, probably one of the worst ever.

Seattle signed him to that and the Nets traded for him right?

Mostly athletes referenced here, but how about John Madden? Ten seasons in Oakland and then quit.

I wonder what ever happened to that guy?
