New market efficiency ... sign players who want their kids to be with them all the time.

Can he unretire? I wonder if he'll think about it again once the bulk of spring is over.

    I can't understand why they'd want him.
The guy was one of the worst players in the American League last season.
    He slugged .340 as a full-time DH.

Hard to explain Fart because on the surface you're right. But LaRoche is unlike anyone I've ever met or dealt with professionally. He was revered in the Nats clubhouse, even the year he was hurt and couldn't play. Clubhouse presence is the cliche that comes to mind.

If Sale was behind this, he's playing both sides pretty well. Apparently told Williams to get the F out of the clubhouse and stay the F out of the clubhouse

This is accurate then. Like I said, I was picking up bits and pieces from talk radio this morning.

This isn't as interesting to the rest of you, but it's clearly another sign that Rick Hahn's power is limited and Williams is still very much in charge.

Player has a right to bring the kid into the clubhouse.

Team says, "yeah, but we didn't expect you to exercise that right every damn day."

    SJ.com mostly sides with team

    Odd.

The Sox haven't sent the paperwork in yet in case he changes his mind in the near future.

There's no one right answer, but I keep wondering why he wants the kid around 24/7? When I was young sometimes we'd have to hang at the place my mom worked for a few hours, but it wasn't an everyday thing.

At one stop, we were a pm during the week with a Saturday am paper. The production manager's wife would sometimes bring her two younger (middle school age) kids down early in the evening Fridays, nuke a lasagna and they had some family time, but the kids would be gone at a decent hour. No problems (and not just because we got some lasagna out of the deal).

Later we hired someone to handle night production as part of her duties. Our (small) break room became a de facto day care center, and I guess it got to the point where it became a safety concern to prepress folks. Soon, an edict came down from the publisher: No more kids.
