Adams' property Janesville (Wis.) Gazette going to five days

    Certainly Adams broke even with all the property/land they acquired when they acquired the newspapers. I would bet a lot of those old newspapers were housed in nice property.

    Still in touch with a few folks from Adams. Have not heard that their benefits were eliminated.

    Yet.

    The Janesville paper has a decent building and a central printing plant that is printing other papers Adams acquired in the state, some more than 200 miles away. I believe they're handing off delivery to the U.S. Mail. But the Gazette also came with a mountain of debt associated in part with that new printing plant. Beloit Daily News has a nice building, but as they say, location, location location. Developers are not clamoring to make Beloit great again.

    The smaller dailies in my area were sold without any real estate. There may be a storefront that came with the paper in Antigo.
