It is very Christian to see people thinking their business is more important than 100,000 lives.

Should a business keep something in the bank as a reserve fund that covers 2-3 months of sales?

Don’t run government like a business. Run businesses like a home - save for a rainy day.

If you took 10% of your sales and stashed it in a bank account, you would have one month saved in 10 months... after three years you could survive 3 1/2 months. I know it’s more complicated than this, but we as Americans operate on such a razor’s edge when it comes to money.

That's why stories about how "hospital bills cause bankruptcies" can be so misleading.

Yes, the bills pushed you over the edge. But you were on the edge because of inexcusable credit card debt and zero savings.

So what happens if this thing drags on 4-6 months, or longer? And the reserve fund gets depleted with no way to replenish it?
We're already at one month. In many places it has already been decided that there will be at least a second month.
Even well-run businesses can't hold out forever.

There's a well-loved, tiny drive-up hamburger stand about a mile from us (right next to the kid's school). It's been there since the 1950s and only open from 11 am to 4 pm. You walk up to the window, order and then you take it to go or eat at one of five picnic tables. Normally this time of year, it will get crowded during lunch. You might have a 10-15 minute wait for your burger and fries.

Thanks to #SupportLocal, the place is slammed. I called in an order yesterday and was told it would be 45 minutes. I asked the owner if they're always like this now. She said the virus has quadrupled their business.

So glad he's performing with Abigail Washburn. Her discs are layered and challenging. If you haven't heard the disc they did as a tribute to their daughter, ya oughtta.

My state has now issued even more restrictions, this time on grocery stores. Starting Monday, only 5 customers per 1,000 square feet of store space.

Honestly, I have never had any problem distancing in a grocery store. Instead of a bunch of people 10-20 feet apart in the store, you'll now have a bunch of people standing in line 6 feet apart outside the store.

And, because in the governor's own words he wants to make grocery shopping "more inconvenient" (ostensibly so people will make fewer trips), people will be loading up and spending more time in the stores, making the wait times longer (and the products fewer) for those outside.

    Sheer lunacy.

I'm not sure if all Costco stores do this, but the one by me has been operating pretty much the way you described for weeks. I've never gotten through the place faster, even with the wait outside. The people who would load up are doing so already. It's not even close to lunacy.
