The Eastern League MVP is Michael Taylor.

46 doubles BY A CATCHER! vs. 29 by a noted "speed" guy.

And zero outs made on the bases vs. 10 caught stealings and at least another 10 because of bone-headed decisions, including getting picked off second and at least two occasions of making the third out at third base.

There is no "rooting interest" in my case. Just acknowledgment that Gomez -- for all the tools he possesses -- is still nowhere near what he could and should be. He's not the Mickey Mantle you think he is, and Lucroy has been a better and more valuable player. So valuable that they can't afford to have him out of the lineup, so his "off days" are spent as the first baseman.

You can claim there is no rooting interest all you like, but it is quite clear that you are pushing this so far because you like Lecroy and you find Gomez frustrating.

The argument that Lucroy is getting the most out of his ability and Gomez is not is irrelevant to a discussion of their value. Amazing how much you rely in points that have no relevance in this discussion.

A double is a double. The position the player fills on the team does not make them more or less relevant. There you go again.

Speed in quotes? Are you actually going to argue that Gomez doesn't have great speed?

Also, the Mickey Mantle thing is you making stuff up. I never said he was that type of player. I even said I don't think he is the MVP. It doesn't take Mickey Mantle to be better than your beloved Lucroy.

Wave those pom-poms, tony. Wave those pom-poms.

Such as missing the cutoff man allowing the hitter to reach second. I've run out of fingers to count those from the Brewers center fielder. Then again, I'm the only one between the two of us watching him every day, so what the hell do I know?

Actually OOP, position does matter when talking about their offensive stats.

It matters in the overall evaluation of the player, not the comparison of offensive stats.

Well, given that you are counting on your fingers as part of your evaluation and you are clearly deep in fanboy mode, not much.

A .320 season from a catcher is more out of the norm given the additional duties of a catcher than it is for an outfielder.

Again, part of the overall evaluation of the player, but a double is still a double.

Of course, the entire side debate may be meaningless. Gomez left today's game with an injured wrist. X-rays were negative, but no word yet on how long he will be out.
