After the performances in his last few outings and his two meltdowns against the Orioles, Clifford is no longer in the discussion.

On the other hand, if C.J. Wilson has a strong September (and the Rangers do also), he could jump in.

Is the difference in innings (too small of a sample size) your deciding factor?

Otherwise, your decision doesn't make much sense.

As I explained Cahill is a hair better than Felix in my 2 categories. ERA is more important than OBP.

Since it's a virtual tie and Felix has 50 more innings, I used that as a tie breaker.

For the other spots, I pretty much went by the combined ranking, putting more weight on ERA.

Lee has a 4.50 ERA since going to Texas (not to mention being 2-5, although wins mean nothing.)
He's no longer in this discussion.

Some guys just don't know how to pitch with a lead I guess.

Cahill was given a 3-0 lead by the A's in the top of the 1st. Five batters into the bottom of the first it's 3-3.

    Cahill's night is done:

IP H R ER BB SO HR

    4.0 9 8 8 2 2 2

He's on the losing end of a 8-4 game and his ERA has jumped up to 2.82.

Had to edit my post. He left a runner on base that came around to score.

    Preposterous.

Cahill when his team scores 0-2 runs: 5.06 ERA.
Cahill when his team scores more than 6 runs: 2.19 ERA.

I'll take that sample size over your one inning sample size.

I'm pressing your buttons. He just didn't have a good game. I don't think it had anything to do with not pitching well with the lead.

It's hard to go through a season with a sub-2.50 ERA. Big league hitters are gonna get you.

    Ask Ubaldo Jimenez.
    Ask Josh Johnson.
    Ask Cliff Lee.

It's fun to debate these awards, but you really can't make a serious judgment of who should win till the last week or so.

King Felix didn't win again last night. What's wrong with him?

His teammates must not like playing for him.

Seriously, 7 shutout innings & he can't get a win. Sucks to be him.

    Winners win. Losers lose.
