Really, how was his last start?

He won, so the rest of the numbers don't count. (I believe it was five earned runs in seven innings). No luck at all involved today, except the good fortune of facing the piss-poor Oakland lineup. Plenty of luck involved last time around.

    Are you guys being serious?

Yeah, he gave up a couple of runs last time, but as I pointed out at the time, he was bit by two two-run HRs on a night when 7 HRS were hit.

He also settled down and shut the Sox out over his last three innings. He lasted seven innings despite a high early pitch count.

He bailed out a depleted bullpen the night after their starting pitcher went 3 innings and had a rookie making only his second start going the next night.

He struck out 9 and he walked only one.

    Oh yeah, and he won.

And he's going to win the Cy Young.

Are you serious calling his previous start a good one? Christ, if you want be taken seriously stop spewing cliched BS. He pitched great today and is a very good pitcher playing on a great team

I'm not saying it was a great start, but you act like it's the kind of start that would cost someone a shot at the Cy Young.

If that's one of his "bad" starts, I'll take it.

It wasn't comparable to the start that current "flavor of the month" Cy Young candidate Cahill had earlier in the week.

That start sucked. He blew his Cy Young chances. They're gone.

Sabathia had a couple of bad innings. He recovered, went 7, struck out 9 and kept his Cy Young candidacy alive while picking up his 18th win.

Today, he stayed on the roll that started in the 5th inning of his last start and picked up his 19th win.

Face it. He's good. Really fucking good. He's having a very good year. He's going to win the Cy Young.

Who the fuck hasn't said he's good? He's one of the best in the game. And yes, giving up 5 earned runs in 7 innings is a bad start, he got the win because of his offense. I'm sorry your 5th grade understanding of baseball stops you from being able to see this. The argument was purely on that start, in which you start blurting out old school bullshit cliches. I'm surprised you haven't come back with "he pitches to the score".

To save TSP the time, yes I know, winners win and Sabathia is a winner.

And who said his last start was one of the best of all time?

And even given your criteria, it wasn't horrible. With the amount of innings he's pitched, it didn't fuck up his ERA. He only walked one, so his WHIP wasn't that bad for that start & certainly didn't fuck up his season number.

He struck out 9, which you put value on and his strike out to walks ratio was 9 to 1.

    And he got the win.

It wasn't a great start, but it sure as shit didn't "hurt" his chances to win the Cy Young.

If you want to see what a start like that looks like, check out Cahill or Lee.

My god, this is painful. It was a great start, he's a leader, he willed his team to win, he gutted it out, blah, blah, blah

You keep reading things that I haven't written.

I don't know why this bothers you so.

Fact is, in his last two starts, he went 15 innings and gave up 5 earned runs. And lowered his ERA.

    And won them both.

Face it. Those two starts have moved him closer to winning the Cy Young.

An ERA of 3, how dominating.

Yeah, even with that "horrible" start on the books, he's lowered his ERA in his last two starts.

And while I didn't see today's game, everything I read says he looked dominating.

Check out his pitch count by inning.

He's on a roll. I expect it to continue.

Check out Felix Hernandez last 2 starts. I'm done here. You've already made it clear that the pitcher with the most wins should win the Cy young, because you know, it's named after Cy Young. Who can argue with that logic.
