And your whining about my posts is just adding so much to this thread. I'm sure everybody else appreciates it just as much as I do.

OK. I should've stopped at last season, but in 2007 I think even Yankee fans would've picked Pap if it was who would you take over the next 5+ seasons.

By the way, a much better writer than myself weighs in on this debate:

That poll is classic. I think I'm going to call Chris Russo and ask who he'd pick between, Pud Galvin, Amos Rusie and Joel Zumaya.

I hate to put so much on one start, but Buchholz probably just knocked himself out of the race tonight. Didn't even record an out in the second inning and gave up a total of five earned runs.

Does last night alone flip that for you? Buchholz was awful and Cahill was outstanding. I know the guy doesn't get many strikeouts, but 16-6 with a 2.61 ERA in the American League is damn tough to ignore. I don't know what his OPS against is now, but I'm sure it is better than Hernandez's after giving up only three hits and two walks in seven innings against the Red Sox last night.

I think the world of Hernandez and if I had a vote, he'd get it right now, but Cahill has to be right there, too, doesn't he?

If the season ended today, I probably would put Cahill 2nd. Their ERAs are now about the same and Cahill has a much better opp OBP. (Not OPS, btw)

Whoops, my bad. Hmmm...wouldn't OPS against be even better? Figure in the ability to limit extra-base hits?

I'm sure the guys who have low OBPs are the same as those with low OPSs. It's just more basic to say: Did you get the guy out or not?

    That makes sense, too.

I guess all that pressure got to Rivera tonight. Blew his third save of the season in a loss to the Rangers. Came on with a one-run lead against the Rangers and gave up two hits, walked two and then hit a batter to drive in the game-winning run with only one out in the bottom of the ninth.
