Seems like she was ripe to go down - she didn’t have as many runaway wins as someone like Matt.

I liked Mattea, but I wouldn’t mind a rule prohibiting cutesy obiter on the FJ answer.

There was a show recently (this week) on which a guy missed a Double Jeopardy Daily Double that put him in the hole even more. Has control of the board and he picks an answer with the lowest value.

The big man is running up quite the streak.

I haven't looked, but I wonder if there's a story out there yet about him. He seems incredibly grateful and overwhelmed after each win. Don't know what the significance was of him pulling the chain/necklace out after the win tonight.

I find myself rooting for him.

He's like a much, much, much less insane Chris Langan.

What's the deal with these contestants sticking around for extended runs? I don't think the questions have gotten easier.

I think that with some of the new Moneyball tactics - seeking out daily doubles, aggressive wagering -players who are quick on the buzzer can control the game. Everything I’ve ever read about the experience of being a contestant says the buzzer timing is a critical skill.

Big man isn't a moneyball guy though.

None of these latest winners seem to be.

Is he not seeking out the Daily Doubles?

The only other thing I can think of is that there has been more dissemination of information about the buzzer and people practice in advance. I think James said he did something like that.

I assume most contestants are pretty competent if given the chance to answer. But when the first round is almost over and you’ve only buzzed in once the feet get wobbly.

sorry not sure why I didn’t quote you I thought I did @poindexter

I am not sure if he is seeking them out, but he only seems to be betting $2k per - at least when I watch him

I’ve always thought that just stopping your opponents from getting them is half the battle, so seeking them out makes sense.

But I’m not watching these days so I can’t T say much about this guy.
