As I have written on social media — what is hubris?

Anyone else find it a little frustrating that they kept the word puzzles on the screen for maybe a second and a half yesterday? We had to rewind and pause to actually get a look at them.

Also, champion dude only brought one suit with him to the Alex Trebek stage in Culver City.

I feel bad for the guy because this clearly really hurt him... but does he not have a mirror?

My mom gets "Jeopardy!" a half-hour before I do and sometimes texts me during the show. I got one the other night that just said "I hope Hitler loses."

probably not a widespread take, but I think Ken Jennings is better than Trebek. Lighter on his feet, funnier and with a response-rolodex in contestant interviews that goes well beyond Alex's fallback, "Good for you...."

I think with Ken, it's a bit more generic and more entertaining in general, for the reasons you cited. Like, he's in on the joke and isn't stuffy. It makes the quality more consistent from episode to episode, but it probably robs the show of "viral" moments, like when Alex would do a rap lyrics category. I did enjoy when, like Letterman, Alex clearly did not enjoy a guest or a contestant.

Ken Jennings will never have that moment and will never have a Casey Kasem “why do you keep leading into stories about dead dogs with fucking upbeat numbers?!” moment. The one time they bleeped him a while back may have been his most real moment on the show.

I find him likable, but it’s almost reminiscent of Carson to Leno, except without the behind-the-scenes stuff.

I'm with you. He is a genuine fan of the game, and lets face it, the Trebek interviews were either awful or cringey.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one who thought that comparison. I tried not to, but I did, and my advice would have been to shave off the mustache (or grow a beard), pronto. And comb his hair differently.

    Poor guy. That's brutal.

Then again, the winnings of (at least) three games takes away a bit of the sting.
