I'll tell you I used to harp on him from my seats at the Linc. I just didn't see what he offered the club, but I backed off the last two years. He did a good job on punt returns and even broke a couple kickoff returns. That said he wasn't a speed guy and the Eagles need that and hopefully they have it in Johnson or Bloom or both.

I envy the fact you have season tickets. I would if I didn't live 800 miles away. I haven't even visited the Linc yet ... fond memories of the Vet, though.

I liked the Vet better. The Linc is nice and all, but whatever "it" is the Vet had it. I swear when they scored a touchdown 50 seconds into the title game against the Bucs I thought it was going to collapse. I would have been happy to go out that way knowing how the rest of the game went.

Where do you think they go in the draft? I'm thinking CB or S, but I could see them going DE too since McDougle is all but out and they need another one for the rotation.

Linebacker. Trotter's on the downside, and Dhani's Dhani. Posluszny wouldn't be a bad fit, though they haven't taken a linebacker in the first round since Jerry Robinson in 1979.

They won't go for a linebacker because that makes sense. Right or wrong, the linebacker positions are undervalued in their defensive scheme. See Jones, Dhani. :p

They'll hold true to their "system" and go for the secondary or a lineman in the first round. And I'm thinking secondary - based on the recent injuries to Lito and Sheldon, the age factor creeping up on Dawkins, Michael Lewis shitting the bed and letting Rod Hood walk.

  6. Re: Eagles get Kevin Curtis

Dhani isn't very good, but they spent a lot of money to sign him as an UFA. and Reid drafted three LBs in the second round from 1999-2006 (gardner, caver, mccoy). they don't undervalue the position, they just haven't found good players

Sheldon Brown has never missed a game in five seasons. he's played in 89 of a possible 89 games, including playoffs. which injuries are you talking about?

I would love for them to go LB in the first round but they probably won't. The only time they've drafted a LB that I can remember is Cagong ... who they wanted to play at DE (or did I mix that up?) That could change considering that Cowboys LB reneged and went to Tenn. but the history's not there.

I have a feeling we're going to see something similar to '02, when they stacked up on secondary. Lito and Sheldon are solid but there's a need for a nickel or dime guy, depending on where James fits in.

Don't be surprised if a safety goes in the first round, though I'm not sure how deep the draft is at that position. It is about time they start molding a replacement for Dawkins and I'm not sure Considine is the every-play answer at ss.

I'm not really worried about the line. They played well at the end the of the season, they're getting Kearse back and now it's time for the first-rounders to deliver. Obviously, odds are they'll go DE first-round but I'd really like them to think LB.

As far as linebackers go ... they never would have let Trotter leave for Washington if they really valued the position. Or basically swapped Carlos Emmons for Dhani Jones. Omar Gaither is solid, though. And they have tried with later draft picks ... I'd just like to see them get serious about the position, rather than draft Chris Gocong (a defensive end!) out of 1-AA Cal Poly and try to turn him into an NFL linebacker.

As far as Sheldon Brown goes ...

Eagles | S. Brown expected to play Week 15
    Mon, 11 Dec 2006 13:11:54 -0800

Les Bowen, of the Philadelphia Daily News, reports Philadelphia Eagles CB Sheldon Brown (knee) briefly left the team's Week 14 game with a knee bruise but returned and is expected to play Week 15.

    Eagles | S. Brown injured
    Sun, 8 Oct 2006 16:07:55 -0700

FOX Sports reports Philadelphia Eagles CB Sheldon Brown (undisclosed) suffered an undisclosed injury during Week 5.

Not as bad as I remembered off the top of my head, i guess, just the usual NFL bumps and bruises. But he fought through injuries this past season nonetheless.

I was really hoping this three-page thread wasn't all about Kevin Curtis. I'm glad it's not.

    Carry on.

Hey Melock, why don't you rename it the Eagles thread?

I stick to what I said earlier: OLB first, then safety, then D-Line.

  12. Re: Eagles get Kevin Curtis

We can only hope, lono, we can only hope ... though a rb in the third round would be nice, too.
