Spikes has a couple of good years left on his tread.

Anything besides Dhani Jones is an upgrade. Although I'm thinking they might get Spikes to push Trotter. Just call it a hunch but I see them going after Willis from Ole Miss. Or at least that's what I'm hoping they do.

It's a deal: Spikes and Kelly Holcomb for Walker and a late 2008 pick (conditional).

Now where does Spikes play? Strong-side or should creaky kneed Trotter worry about his job? Oh yeah good riddance to Darwin Walker and the hot dogs he has for a scalp.

Everything I've read is Spikes would play outside. Good upside risk for the Eagles (a DT they didn't need and a late draft pick) if, of course, Spikes can stay healthy.

I think it's worth the risk. I was tired about hearing how strong Walker is. He certainly didn't show it on the field.

  8. I'm thrilled with the move. I like Walker but Spikes is definitely a sparkplug. The Holcombe addition scares me a bit ... maybe Donovan isn't as far along as we hoped.

Don't be scared. McNabb doesn't get enough credit for his work ethic. And remember his knee injury was far less severe than Culpepper's. Holcomb is coming in as the third stringer although at $1.4 million that's an expensive clipboard carrier.

I like the Spikes trade. He is definitely a plus to have in the linebacking corps. I think Spikes will move into the middle for now, until they surprise us all and draft Willis in the first round. Imagine that rotation with the LBs. I am creaming myself just thinking about it. All joking aside, now we have three quarterbacks who can step in and perform to a certain level.

I'm hoping they take Willis too, but they're going to have to get up into the mid teens to select him. I think Spikes starts outside and moves inside on third down. Trotter is strictly a two-down guy anymore and at best has two seasons left. He'll never see the end of his contract in Philly unless he loses 20 pounds and can still play the way he used to.
