Boxberger is the closer in Arizona.

Just traded Knebel for Ian Happ in my dynasty league. Happ is cheaper, younger and I needed an OF bat. I kind of figure I'll come across another closer at some point on the wire.

This team got quite a bit better by dumb luck.

Myself and another guy were the only two to pass on the league's two keepers. So he should have gotten picks 1 and 4. Instead, he got picks 1 and 3. The league commissioner, unbeknownst to me, decided that the other guy had to give up one of those two picks, and he waived Stanton.

Curt Blefary's Demon Spawn releases Kyle Schwarber, acquires Giancarlo Stanton. Boom.

(Also, after seeing my glut at first base -- Posey is eligible there, too -- I jettisoned Logan Morrison and picked up Tim Beckham.)

Isn't Bellinger eligible to play the outfield in your league? He should be in just about every format. He played 48 games there last year.

I would have held on to Morrison over Beckham, though I can see the value with the latter's versatility. Just thinking your glut at first base wasn't as bad as it seems if you consider Bellinger an outfielder.

I don't quite understand how you got Stanton. The commissioner made him cut his pick at No. 3. What about your pick at No. 4? I can see the commish giving you an option to trade him the guy you took at four for the guy he took at three, but if you didn't have to give up anything and the other guy lost Stanton, that other guy got screwed.

Hadn't even thought about Bellinger in the outfield. Yes, he's eligible there.

You know, you make good points on the Stanton thing, and I agree. That was weird. I was at work when it went down, and I can't really tune up my team at work, so I didn't have too much to say about it. I'm going to look into it.

Just out of curiosity, who did you pick at No. 4?

Nothing against you getting a good ruling in favor of your team, but I have zero patience for unfair rulings by fantasy baseball commissioners. Crap like that will ruin any league. (To be clear, I'm not sure what happened in your league was unfair. I don't know everything about the situation. I just thought it was worth asking.)

An untrustworthy commissioner is actually why I left the league I'd been in for the last 13 years. I've known the guy who runs that league for over 15 years, but I got to the point that I trust him about as far as I can throw a school bus.

I went Correa No. 1 and Sale No. 4. He went Arenado No. 2 and Stanton No. 3. (Remember, 16 top players off the board as keepers.)

Given the option, would you have traded Sale for Stanton?

I like what you got, but honestly, I'd have gone with Arenado. Correa is fine at that spot, but I've got Arenado in my top 5. (Sadly, I didn't get a pick that high in either of my drafts this year.)

Yeah, that makes no sense to make the guy waive Stanton. As OOP said, you should have had the choice to trade your pick at No. 4 (Sale) for his pick at No. 3 (Stanton). If you were happy with Sale, no harm, no foul.

I had it explained to me what happened. The other guy had given the commissioner his two keepers -- and then he drafted opposite me in the first two rounds. He didn't have either pick coming to him.

So really, he caught a break in keeping Arenado. He was given the choice of keeping one and letting one go for me to grab. He chose Stanton.

Had I gotten the first two picks? With what was there, I probably would have gone Arenado and Correa. I was still able to grab Strasburg the second time around. But I'll admit, it won't be bad to be able to expect seven strong innings every five days from Sale.

I revise my opinion. You were the one who got screwed, not him. If he kept two players, he shouldn't get to hold on to either of those draft picks. Unfortunately, any way of cleaning this up after the completion of the draft is going to be messy, but you should absolutely have the option of taking Arenado in place of Sale if you want him. Your commissioner really screwed up allowing him to make those selections after keeping two players.

Sounds like you need a new commish.

Bored waiting for a windshield replacement so I’m gonna draft in a free ESPN league. 12-team roto. Seventh pick. Let’s crowdsource. Whom should I target in the early rounds?

Correction: Picks got shuffled and I’m third overall.
