But the discussion here has centered around Cain's fitness for office
given the allegations. The comparisons to Clinton are apt.

America has accepted that picadillos are a private matter and should not have baring on suitability for office.

I see it no different for Cain. Now as far as his qualifications in other areas he is not fit for office.

Speaking of facts, do you have any that point to this Cain scandal having sprung from a liberal agenda? Any?

Short of those facts, can you explain to me why anyone in the Democratic Party would want to nuke a Herman Cain campaign at this stage in the game?

I find it entertaining that Dick actually seems to believe Obama would, as a matter of course, wipe the electoral map with Herman Cain should the latter garner the Republican nomination.

Now, do I believe Cain is fit and qualified to be President? At this point, I haven't really examined his ideas closely enough to know for sure.

But I've got dinner on a plate sitting right in front of me, and if the economy keeps sputtering along like it has for the first three years of Obama's presidency, I'm quite confident enough Americans would eagerly vote for my General Tso's Chicken and egg roll if it represented an opportunity to get rid of Obama and Biden.

The Democrats would much, much rather face Cain than Romney.

This story is not driven by the left.

    That's the bottom line.

Obama would absolutely mop the floor with Cain. And don't take that as a suggestion that Obama is invincible; Cain is beyond unelectable. Cain is a clown.

Since you admit you haven't actually looked at Cain's proposals, read up on what 9-9-9 would actually do. It's one thing to argue that we shouldn't raise taxes on the rich; it's quite another to do what Cain is suggesting, which is to slash taxes on millionaires and raise taxes on everybody else. The Tax Policy Center estimates it would raise taxes on 84% of Americans; households making $10k -$20k a year would see their taxes go up 950%. Households in the $40k - $75k range -- and that's a hell of a lot of people -- would see their taxes go up more than $4k a year. You think the general public will go for that? You think many Republicans would go for that?

And that's without getting into Cain's apparent problems with his dick, and his utter dishonesty about them. I have no idea how legit they are, by I think it's worth noting that (a) these are women who came forward a decade before he ran for office, and (b) his story changes dramatically from interview to interview. That's a problem.

As for the "people will vote for my egg roll" over Obama line: no, they won't. Go back to 2004. People said the same thing about Bush. It doesn't work. People do not vote against someone; they vote for someone. That's why the polls show Obama losing against "the Republican challenger," but show Obama beating the actual potential Republican candidates.

Again, Obama is vulnerable. He could certainly lose to Romney if the economy stays in the tank. He could lose to someone like Huntsman who could siphon off a lot of left-leaning voters. But Obama would stomp the crap out of Herman Cain.

I don't know what you make, but I make between $40-50,000 a year.

Cain's wonderful 9-9-9 plan would result in my overall tax bill going up about $5,000 per year (maybe more).

In case you can't figure that out, that's about $100.00 -- One Hunnah Dollah -- a C Note -- every mother fucking week. Out of my pocket and into his massahs the Kohls' pockets. For fewer services. (He and his ilk also plan to cut virtually everything the government does for anybody.)

    Fuck that shit.

Am I? You don't know me, so don't tell me what I'm going to believe.

I don't know if they're legit or not. I think the fact that they came out when he was just some dude in a restaurant group -- and not once he was running for president -- lends them more credence than, say, the Clarence Thomas allegations, which came out only after he was nominated.

I think it's possible that something he said was taken the wrong way. I also think it's possible he's a lout. I don't know -- but I do know he has flat-out lied about the settlements over the allegations, and I think that's a big problem.

I wish one of the Cain true believers around here would tell me why at least one of the incidents was claimed to be witnessed by a man who is now a Republican pollster. I guess he's part of the some liberal conspiracy as well?

I want one person to tell me what sense it would make for liberals to go after Cain. Just tell me. I used to hear that liberals were afraid of Sarah Palin. Nobody is afraid of Herman Cain.

I honestly think that, at least here, we all just enjoy a good campaign story. Or a juicy political story of any kind. Look at the Weiner thread. Probably at least as long as this one.

If SportsJournalists.com existed in 1998, the thread would have been legendary. Just missed it by a couple years, unfortunately.

Citizen Cain could have a sworn affidavit from every person he ever worked with stating how great he is, he would still be a 66-year-old guy with absolutely zero elected experience trying to become president.
