She also slipped and fell on the ice after she was done.

"A major professional sport" probably wouldn't.

Good to see someone is filling the void left by He Who Shall Not Be Named (At This Time).

    Houston says ....

I disagree. What if the NHL played its all-star game next Sunday? It's the dead Sunday between the NFL conference championship games and the Super Bowl. Play it at 6:30 and it won't even be up against an NBA game (probably). I never have watched "American Idol" but apparently millions do. Play it Sunday and you're not up against that crap.

My 8-year-old wasn't happy being told to go to bed after barely half the first period was over. I don't guess it matters to Gary Bettman that a kid who loves watching hockey (and we know there aren't that many of them in the U.S.) can't watch most of the all-star game because it starts too damned late.

Hey, an all-star game on a Wednesday night might be good for the NHL compared to what they're potentially looking at later this season. How about a Nashville-Atlanta Stanley Cup final? Won't that be a ratings winner?

    Since I'm a realist I'm hoping for a Buffalo/Vancouver final.
I'm wondering if they'll take away my citizenship if I cheer for the Sabres, my favorite team in hockey.
(Like a good Catholic, I'm a full fledged member of Leafs Nation, but even Catholics stray from time to time.)

Agreed, the game should have been played the Sunday between NFL conference championship games and the Super Bowl. And, play it at 6:30 p.m., because by then, even Tiger Woods would be done playing golf in the Buick Invitational (the PGA's first event this year, I believe).

Like someone said, it wouldn't be up against the NBA - or at least very few games.

Last night, I watched the Raptors host the Hornets instead of the NHL All-Star Game.

Oh, and for those criticizing MLB for playing a midweek all-star game: There is NOTHING, not one other sport, playing during the week at that time. And all TV shows are re-runs by then.

Yeah, when the only MLB competition is the WNBA, that would be no competition.

No, this isn't the first PGA event, but it's the first one that has much meaning since it's Tiger's first event.

    A) The Sabres belong as much to the Niagara Peninsula as they do to Western New York, so I think your citizenship is safe. And I do consider myself to be a bit of an expert on citizenship matters. :)

    B) I am not, however, an expert on Catholicism or any other organized religion. That said, I would expect there is an entire "nation" of Quebecers that would disagree as to which NHL team a "good Catholic" would support. Or are you saying that fans of Les Habitants have lapsed? :D
