Hear about the bullshit $2,500 fine Peter Schaefer of Ottawa got for waving a white towel from the bench?

That's a fine where, if I'm Bryan Murray, I'm taking up a dressing room collection in order to pay it on Schaefer's behalf. The officiating has been just brutal in too many games this year.

Je concur. If you're interviewing him about something positive and good for him, he's great. Talk about something he doesn't like or is unprepared to handle and he turns instant asshole.

Five power play goals by Detroit tonight - so far. If their PP unit is one of the lowest in the league, how bad does that make Toronto's PK?

Detroit's power play was a league worst only in statistics.

And yet another sign Don Cherry should just hang it up. During Coach's Corner tonight, he said the Wings and Leafs hadn't met in three years and he hoped it would be another three years before they met again.

    That's criminal.

About as bad as Toronto's offence -- nine goals in the last seven games, all losses.

Anybody else notice the Leafs haven't won since Sundin came back? Reminds me of the playoffs a few years ago when Toronto was rolling along with (pretty much) an AHL lineup, then Sundin returned from injury and they didn't win again.

The Original Six should actually be their own division.

No, Double J, Schaefer should have been tossed out of the game. Brutal minor league shit.

Tucker did the same thing a few years back and Mogilny pulled the towel down and gave Sideshow Bob a death-stare.

Got nothing to do with nothing.

If anyone thinks the Leafs are worse off with Sundin out of the line-up, they're delusional.

He's one of the elite players of the NHL That isn't even arguable.

Who's better on the Leafs? Tucker at minus 10?

Raycroft? 27th or something in GAA?

C'mon even the worst Leafs haters have to give Mats his due.

Sad story concerning Bob Gainey's daughter.

    Chicago signs ...

Peter Bondra, 38, to a one-year contract. He needs two goals for 500 in his career.

It's be hard for Chicago's offense to be worse, so may as well take a chance on Bondra. Hawks have been beyond useless on the power play of late. Wonder if he'll be on Havlat's line...

EDIT: Chicago goes 0-10 on the power play tonight...including 0-3 with a 5-on-3...but still manages a home win over Edmonton. Oilers were flat, for whatever reason. Hawks travel to the moribund Blues' building Tuesday, so looks like Chi-town may well punk St. Louis in different sports on consecutive nights... ;)
