Yet another solid effort by the New York Czechoslovakians, losing 6-1 to the cross-river Devils.

For those of you scoring at home--or on the Rangers--they have allowed 15 goals in the last two evenings.

That trade certainly did not work out well for Lil' Jimmy Dolan, Glen Sather, Tom Renney and the rest of the or-gan-i-zay-shun...

Uh, I'm a Rangers fan. I hated that trade from day one. Ozo's first game as a Ranger was against the Canadians in Montreal. I was sitting in my buddy's basement apartment/shrine to hockey/mini Hockey Hall of Fame with him and his brother. Two shifts in, Ozolinsh has the puck behind his net and he looks like he's half-in-the bag. He threw a terrible clearing pass right up the middle to Alex Kovalev, I believe, and the enigmatic ex-Ranger ripped a wicked wrist shot past Lundqvist. Habs went on to win the game.

Then we share the ignominy of Rangers fandom. Oh and by the way, it's Canadiens! :D [/endchuck~taylor]

Being a Rangers fan is like being a Red Sox fan before 2004. You know something bad's about to happen. You just don't know what it is. But it's going to be really, really bad.

Yeah, but there will always be 1994!

That's the problem. It will be 13 years in June. When does the organization say, "Yeah, it was a great moment. But now we have to build for greater moments in the future?" You never get ahead by looking back, but that organization looks back at 1994 all the time. Eventually, someone's going to say, "But what about today? 1994 was great, but it's 2006."

There was talk in the preseason about bringing Brian Leetch back. As much as I respect Leetch--he's one of my favorite hockey players of all time--they should have said, "We're not going to bring him back. We profusely thank him for his years of exemplary service, and will honor him and retire his No. 2 when he retires from the sport. But we do not think he is a fit on the 2006-07 New York Rangers."

Last year, Mark Messier Night, was an excuse to trot out the 1994 Rangers. Same with Mike Richter Night. When Brian Leetch Night rolls around, they'll be there. MSG leads into its Rangers coverage with footage from that year. Christ Almighty, when does it become overkill? Jay Wells Night? Glenn Healy Afternoon? Doug Fucking Lidster Day?

    HB. Thirteen years? That's it?

The Centre of the Hockey Universe is celebrating its 40th anniversary.

And Darcy Tucker isn't gonna take us to the Promised Land.

At least the Devils can trot out 2003 highlights of its last Cup victory.
