Aren't most of those Hot Stove sessions pretty slow? ;)

Bobby Orr rules. I was on a conference call with him once ... near the end of the call, I asked him to say hi to my then boyfriend, who was a big fan. I got it on tape and played it for the boyfriend. Made his day.

Without a doubt, you are the height of professionalism. Let me guess, you got players to autograph stuff for family and friends, right? [/dripping with sarcasm]

Now, on a completely unrelated note...

From bad: New York Rangers have allowed 19 goals in their last three games.

To worse: The Blueshirts just called up Brad Isibister from AHL Hartford. http://newyorkrangers.com/pressbox/pressreleases.asp?id=2524

Nope. Never once. But a legend like Bobby Orr comes along and you have to have a little fun with it. Just like Mr. Orr did ...

Aw, cut Flash a little slack. :)

A couple years back, I covered an event with the 1980 Olympic team. I was bound and determined to be the epitome of professionalism, even though inside I was a back to being a screaming teeny-bopper as I was in 1980.

I maintained. I was professional -- it killed me, but I was professional.

However, there were reporters, television crew -- you name it -- asking team members for autographs, to sign memorabilia. I can honestly say I've never seen anything quite like it.

I never thought acting professional in covering an event would put me in the minority. :-\

Thanks, Rosie. While it may not have been the most professional thing to do at the time (although the call was over and more than half of the people had already hung up), I pride myself on my conduct as a journalist over the course of my 15-year career. That also goes with having the respect of the people I worked with (athletes and coaches) and never having treated anyone like an asshole, like a lot of people in this business do. ;)
Happy holidays to you and yours, Rosie.

    AP:

The Philadelphia Flyers acquired forward Mike York from the New York Islanders for center Randy Robitaille and a fifth-round pick next year.

I'm not exactly sure what the Islanders are doing. They have put together a nice, little hockey team in Hempstead, and they are now slowly sending players to Philly. York might not have been scoring goals, but sure as shit stinks, he's more useful than ex-Islander Robitaille.
