Things are getting silly in Carolina. Minute left in a 5-1 Carolina win over the Islanders and we've seen the bobble-head cam and the chicken dance (complete with shot of production guy flailing his arms about).

Oh god ... it's Mambo No. 5!

Leafs and Hawks all tied up at one after two.

Peca got nailed with a knee on knee by Jim Vandermeer who got five and a game for intent to injure. Peca was helped off the ice.

Fuck, the Leafs can't afford to lose their best penalty killer

Had seats behind one of the goals for tonight's Canes-Isles game. I'm telling you, that was the best game Carolina has played all season, winning 5-1. Stillman and Brind'Amour make such a difference for the Canes, who have finally won three consecutive victories.

I saw Scott Walker fight in front of me and score a goal in front of me. I of course was hoping to see an assist from him for the Gordie Howe hat trick, but it never came.

I watch numerous games on Center Ice, but there's nothing quite like being there and having seats close to the ice.

I hope the 'Canes keep it up ... got tickets for friends - me, too - for the Florida game on Tuesday.

Hopefully, that disasterous West Coast swing is long in the rear-view mirror. Of course, Brindy being back is everything for that team. Cory Stillman is also a difference-maker for that team. Scott Walker has been a really nice surprise, fortunate considering that losing Matt Cullen was bigger than most think.

To listen to Chuck Kaiton, like ondeadline was saying, Carolina was really on Friday night. That and the Isles couldn't stay out of the penalty box. Four power-play goals sounds like the league I cover ... and the NHL types have had a year to adjust to the rules changes.

Bondra got his 500th goal as the the Hawks topped the Leafs, 3-1.

Savard's turned the Hawks into a solid squad.

If Ruutu starts playing the way he was hyped, the Hawks could continue to surprise

The Leafs are screaming bloody murder over Vandermeer's hit on Peca which left Peca with a torn MCL and a fractured tibia.

Maurice said that it's tough to see his guy out indefinitely after being hit by a guy who will be back in the minors before Peca returns.

I've seen the replay a dozen times and I don't know if I see any intent there. Nasty hit to be sure, but to me it looked like Peca was trying to get out of the way.

Tough, tough break for the Leafs who are already missing Wellwood and Ponikarovsky. I'll be at the ACC tonight when they play the caps if Maurice needs an extra body.

I've lost track of the Peca dirty-hit rotation. Was it his turn to give or receive? Regardless, sounds pretty nasty.

The Flyers gave the Senators an early Christmas gift, rolling over and playing dead this afternoon to the tune of a 6-3 loss.

Ovechkin jams home a shot on the power play, 1-0 Caps in Toronto.
