The main problem is that those aren't Canadian cities so those cities wouldn't jibe with the joke, eh?

Would argue about the rules for Red Rover, too?

Since I don't know what Red Rover is ... no. :)

Different games, at least in my neighbourhood.

Red Rover was where you had two teams facing each other. Your team would call someone over and they would try to bust through your lines. If you couldn't bust through, you had to join the other side.

British Bulldog was where one guy stood in the middle of a field and everybody tried to run past him. If he captured you (two-hand touch), you had to join him in the middle and catch everyone else as they ran back and forth.

British Smear was just like British Bulldog, except you had to tackle the guy in order to capture him. Way more fun than British Bulldog.

    What a league.

Steve Yzerman's number is going to be retired in January prior to a Wings' game. One of the greatest players in NHL history, clearly one of the fifty greatest Red Wings and amongst the ten best players of the last decade.

You'd think that game and the ceremony would be a nationally televised game. Is it on NBC? Nope, as it's on a Tuesday. So, it'd have to be a Versus game, right? Wrong. Versus is airing Blackhawks versus Blues, for the right to the No.1 overall draft pick.

    What a league.

Versus could really use "flex" scheduling.

Talk about a difficult back-to-back situation, I doubt that any team all season will have a tougher one that the Hurricanes face tonight (at the Sabres) and Friday (at home against the Ducks). The Ducks could, of course, be playing a rookie goalie, but you can still win with a fairly mediocre goalie with Anaheim's solid blue line.

Curiously, the word is that John Grahame is starting against the Sabres tonight. I'd ride Cam Ward both nights.

    Double J.

    My bad.

    You got it right.

    Major senior brain fart.

Played Red Rover & British Bulldog. Of course they're different.

The best part of Red Rover came when you were trying to stop someone from breaking through your line. We would lock wrists and drive them forward in a clothesline move, right into the other guy's chest or gut -- strictly against the rules, supposedly. ;)

Well, considering Logan Couture will be the prize for whoever loses, I'd watch that game. :)

Seriously, though, that is a pretty stupid move by the NHL. Why am I not surprised?
