Isles beat the Leafs, 5-2, at the Nassau Coliseum tonight. Leafs season comes to another inglorious end. Isles are still alive for the Eastern Conference 8th seed.

Hey, hey, hey my friend. If we beat Montreal in regulation this Saturday we're in!

My deepest apologies. Advanced physics is not as complex as the NHL's playoff formula.

I thought so. I was worried I had missed something.

The Maple Leafs are not necessarily in if they beat Montreal in regulation. Even if that happens, the Islanders make the playoffs should they defeat both Philly and Jersey.

If the Leafs don't make it, I say get rid of Mats Sundin. He's playing like crap and was a minus-2 on Thursday night. A leader needs to step up and lead his team and Sundin, sad to say, does not fit the bill.

When the goals are regularly coming from guys like Boyd Devereaux and John Pohl but not at all from Sundin and Darcy Tucker, your club is in deep shit.

Another heartless loss for the Whalercanes. FSN South had a shot of Jim Rutherford at one point in the broadcast, along with the line "it will be an active offseason."

Uh, yeah Jim. Funnier still, talk was of bringing in a big-time defenseman. Uh, Jim, any chance the Kings will give Jack Johnson back?

    Rutherford's had worse years.

His goaltending record with Detroit in 1976-77: 7-34-6. The Dead Things finished dead last in the league at 16-55-9. Steve Shutt of Montreal had more goals (60) than Detroit's top scorer, Walt McKechnie, had points (59).

I'm guessing it would be asking too much for the dog-ass Bruins to beat the Senators tonight. Overtime or shootout would be fine, I'm not asking for a regulation win.

And I'm pretty amazed that the Canes couldn't at least MAKE the playoffs. Makes me appreciate the chance to go to all those Stanley Cup Finals games last year even more.
