other than the messier night game, might have been the best ranger regular-season game i've ever attended.

Watched the Rangers-Sabres game tonight and it was excellent. One of the best games I've seen this year. Maybe it's just me, but it's hard not to root for the Blueshirts and Lundqvist is going to take them deep into the playoffs.

is it me or are the sabres playing ryan miller a bit much? is biron not capable of playing well consistently, he did when miller was out earlier this year.

We had the game on in the newsroom tonight. It was a very good--and much needed--win for the Rangers. They beat a potential playoff opponent and got back to playing their game. The one negative was their defensive play in the second period. In the last three games (Florida, Tampa, Buffalo), the Rangers have had a period where they've been lax.

Fleishman: Great point. With a playoff berth assured, I'd think that Ruff would want to rest Miller a bit. Biron's more than capable in nets.

i don't know where i'd rank it. it's one of those character type wins since buffalo had been 27-0-0 when leading by two goals or more. it's certainly not their most complete win. Their most recent win that I'd label complete was 3/18 when they beat Toronto 5-2 at home.

I also hope tonight ends all speculation as to who the NHL MVP is.

Without a shadow of a doubt, Jaromir Jagr is the league MVP. Henrik Lundqvist should be second.

you would think it would. of anyone else in the top 10 in the scoring race, only eric staal and joe thornton would get any small consideration. But having said that, it shouldn't have any doubt. They're 22-7-6 when he scores a goal.

Thornton's had a great season in San Jose, but are the Sharks one of the top eight teams in the West?

well they came into today with vancouver for eighth and they were awful before the trade. i'm just thinking the way some might think, there's no doubt jagr should get it. You say Lundqvist should be number two, has a goalie ever won the Hart before?

Uh, yeah. Hasek in 1997 and 1998, along with Jaque Plante in 1962.

If you take Jagr and Lundqvist off this team, do they have 92 points? Are they in a tie for first in the Atlantic? Are they in the playoffs?

    No.

That's why they should finish one-two in MVP voting.
