Guess the question now is: who wins the Hart--Jagr or Thornton?

As strange as it may be with Auld as their starter, goaltending was the least of the Canucks problems this year. I don't like Auld, but I think he's fairly represntative of the majority of the new up and coming crop of goaltenders. He's a goalie who won't win you too many games, but he won't lose you too many either. He was steady for them this year when they didn't expect to have to lean onhim like they did. Crawford should be gone. Berti should be gone if they can move him, Morrison has always been overrated and should be gone as well. time to build around the Sedins. I'd keep Naslund around, I've always had respect for him and I still think he will be productive for the Canucks long term, but they need to lose the other two off the top line to change the culture of the club.

What, no love for Kipper? There is no way the Flames are anywhere near a playoff spot without him, especially with Iginla having a sub-par season.
Really can't go wrong with any of the three. Here's how I think it will fall or should fall.

    1) Jags
    2) Kipper
    3) Thornton

Nice watching the Rangers choke like dogs while the Devils (10 wins in a row) make their move on the division title.
Rangers are gone in 5 games (or less) in the first round

    depends if lundqvist is healthy.

by the way, it is a crime that scott niedermayer is not getting more love for the hart.

The Toronto Star has Niedermayer as its pick (would that be "Nieds," Beef?).

One team that appears to be heading south real fast are the Senators.

Saturday's night loss to the Leafs reminded me of past years--they'd beat the Leafs in the regular season and then fold like a cheap tent in the playoffs. Only, this time they won't have the Leafs.

Actually it is. I believe Neids is his nickname, I have heard him referred to as that before :p Seriously I have. Plus I'm lazy when it comes to message boards and names, and I like to use monikers. Jags isn't much of an excuse, but Kipper is a hell of a lot easier than spelling it out.
Here are some others just to keep you up to speed:

    Smytty - Ryan Smyth
    Toddy - Todd Marchant
Tugger - Ron Tugnutt (although Tugnutt is fun enough aas it is)
    Cujo - Curtis Joseph
    Iggy - Jarome Iginla
    Nasy – Mats Naslund
    Berti - Todd Bertuzzi
    AC - Anson Carter
    Eddie - Ed Belfour
Dougie - Doug Weight (also Weighter is very common)
    JR - Jeremy Roenick
    Cheli - Chris Chelios
    Shanny – Brendan Shannahan
    Stevie Y – Steve Yzerman
Rosie – Mike Grier (also known as the guy traded for a bus, litterally)
    Heater – Heatley
BBJ (Big Baby Jesus) - Sidney Crosby

Those are just the ones off the top of my head

Further proof that hockey players have no imagination when it comes to nicknames. Most grade 5 kids could do better than that.
    Where are the "Rockets" ?

I know the bruins are a bad team but I do have a question. Why are the bruins so bad in the third period? The announcers said it was because of lack of experience. Why would that lead to a lack of scoring in the third period?

Just want to point out to save my own face, the vast majority of those I did not come up with, but have heard on TV, the Radio, in print, etc. for years. I do agree their is a definite shortage of cool nicknames in the NHL.

Some of my favourites of all time

    The Chicutamee (sp?) Cucumber
    The Rocket
    Mr. Zero
    The Pocket Rocket
    The Grim Reaper
    Red Light Racicot

Seems like that's the case with nicknames in all sports JR. You don't see too many guys named "Crazy Legs" or "Dr. Dunkenstein" anymore.
