The Penguins are screwed. To go with a porous defense, they're down to one goalie - Fleury - tonight against Philadelphia.  :(

The new Hockey News listed the candidates for the 2006 Hall of Fame. They are:

Patrick Roy--If he doesn't go in, first ballot, the HHOF needs to close its doors immediately.

Pavel Bure--Several great seasons, but not a first ballot HOFer.

Doug Gilmour--Very good centerman; at one point was first ballot HHOF worthy, then Mark Messier high-sticked Gilmour in the 1997 Eastern Conference Semis. Afterwards, Gilmour seemed tenative.

Mike Richter--Simply, the greatest American goaltender ever. He should go in with Roy.

Phil Housley--Good offensive defenseman, but he wasn't the best defenseman of his generation.

Tom Barrasso--Will be hurt by his prickly personality.

    FedOrov, FedOrov, FedOrov, FedOrov, FedOrov.

Write that 1000 times on the blackboard. :D Probably one of the most common misspelled names in hockey.

Apparently this board has trouble with "Sydney" Crosby too. ;D

(Apparently Derian Hatcher has a problem with Crosby's face too.)

What happened? Hatcher rearranged Sid The Kid's face?

It wouldn't be the first time Crosby took a right to the jaw.

After he gave Hatcher a good hit in the first, Hatcher paid him back with a sneaky left hook (no call) and a stick (no call) in the second. Crosby got called for unsportsmanlike for complaining that he liked not bleeding from the face.

(Completely unobjective point of view, thank you.)

Well, Sidney shouldn't be such a fucking pussy. [/sarcastic joke]

Hatcher is a cheapshot artist extrodinare, and a lousy defenseman. Not necessarily in that order.

He hasn't been the same since he hurt his knee three games into his Red Wings career. But he got exposed in the Wings' last playoff run as a slow, big, lumbering defenseman.

Fitting that Bobby Clarke would think he can excel in the 'new' NHL. :D

    Goonie:

All anyone ever needed to know about Hatcher was learned in Game Six of the 2004 Western Conference Semifinals. With Calgary's Martin Gelinas crusing down the slot, Hatcher turns his back and crosschecks another Flame. Gelinas slammed home a rebound and Calgary won the game 1-0 and the series 4-2.

Bobby Clarke thinks that the 1975 Flyers could excel in the 'new' NHL. The Toothless One played one too many games without a helmet...

    Mr Goon,

Talked to a Flyer scout (not Inge Hammarstrom) one time when he came back from a European tour. Asked if he saw any future Flyers there. Nope, he said, nobody had what we're looking for. "What is it exactly that you're looking for?" I asked. His response: "I'm looking for someone who can stand flatfooted and shit in a pick-up truck."

That fairly defines what's left of Hatcher's game.

    I always liked Zubov more.

    YHS, etc

Sergei Zubov never got the credit he deserved. He was a phenominal defenseman, overshadowed by bigger names.

This just in. Crosby's pretty good.

After getting his face sliced up by Hatcher, he comes out and has a three points, including two goals. The last one being a game-winning breakaway in OT with less than a minute remaining.
