Puck must cross the blue line closest to the goal you are trying to score on before an offensive player completely crosses the same line. If the play is going on down there and the puck is lost behind the line, everybody must clear out and start the process over.

The last sentence is a little vague.

Basically, the attacking team must make sure that the puck crosses the defending team's blue line before any player does (and that means before both skates completely cross the far edge of the 10-inch-thick blue line).

Once the puck crosses the blue line, all attacking players are allowed in the zone.

However, if the defending team is able to get the puck completely out of the zone (and that means that the whole puck crosses the whole blue line), or if the attacking team accidentally takes the puck back out of the zone, then all attacking players must leave the zone before the puck can re-enter it.

Now that his head is spinning, you get to try to explain tag up offsides to him.

    Startlegram sez:

DALLAS — The absence of a second-line center appears to be the Stars’ biggest weakness right now, but that could be remedied by the signing of Eric Lindros, with whom a deal is imminent.

    Well, that didn't take long.

TSN says Neil Smith out as Isles GM.

    Details, anyone?

    CP has apparently confirmed it:

Looks like he quit. I guess he couldn't figure out whether to quit or kill Mad Mike.

I wonder where that leaves Nolan.

    He probably came cheap.

I was shocked at the line in the AP story that said Snow had to retire to take this job. No. 1, who knew he was still active? No. 2, how long before he decided DePietro is doing a crappy job and makes himself the starting goaltender?

The Islanders are like a SNL sketch during the non-Lorne Michaels years. You can't believe they are actually calling this NHL hockey.

How exactly was this organization once one of the NHL best teams?

And a quality post I just saw on a Penguins message board:
