Here's a switch: A NHL player, via his representative, threatening to play in Motherland Russia: http://www.tsn.ca/nhl/news_story/?ID=174706&hubname=

Zherdev and Washington's Alexander Ovechkin are most closely tied with Evgeni Malkin, as all three slipped away from their Russian Superleague organizations to play in the NHL.

In a completely unrelated story, the Bruins signed Phil Kessel.

Kessel is such a clown. Not a gophs fan at all, but he needed a few more years development before he makes an impact at the NHL level. HUGE puck hog.

Carle in SJ is going to have a good year. Not that I'm a DU fan either.

Nolan on the other hand, pulls a Brett Hull around Thanksgiving.

I was away from the computer for a week. Has there been any discussion on SportsJournalists.com concerning Malkin's saga?

He's been skating in El Segundo at the Kings' practice facility a bit lately, but no word yet that I've heard.

Saw a show about players in the draft and there seems to be some question as to Kessel's basic fitness level as well.

Mind you though he hs a rediculous skill set, and if he doesn't figure it out on his own, the vets on Boston won't let him get away with being a lazy puck hog. The Franchise has never shied away from taking ahard edge with their prospects, even relegating Thornton to the press box for long stretches during his rookie season. It does seem strange, however, that he was getting Crosby comparisons a year or two ago when he was rated the top prospect by Central Scouting.

Sucks to be J.P. Dumont, Anson Carter and Brian Leetch these days...

Any leads on where they will be signing? there was some thought for a while that Leetch might sign with the Oilers, but he put that rumour to bed when he said he was only going to sign with an Eastern Conference team. I know there was some interest from the Leafs in AC, but I don't think they can afford him, same with JP Dumont and the Red Wings, Leafs and others.

How's Leetch's health these days? Would Ranger fans hate him if he signed with the Isles?

It's been reported that Leetch wants to play for an East Coast team. The Rangers are well-stocked on the blueline and really can't afford him. The Devils can't afford chewing gum, to say nothing of Leetch. The Islanders don't have room for him on their blueline.

It's looking more and more like Brian Leetch will retire.

Any thoughts to him ending up in Ottawa?
