He obviously made his NCAA intentions known years ago and that's why he fell to the fourth round of the OHL draft, but once he was drafted by the Saginaw Spirit I think that cemented his plans. Things are different now, but Saginaw was a mess three years ago.

Playing in boston is going to quench is taste for beer? If he was developing a taste for it as a student in Wisconsin, you might as well tap the keg for him as a rich 18-year-old in Boston.

It appears the Oilers may be ready to test the treat of lawsuit. They are reportedly just a few small details away from signing Russian star Alexei Mikinov

As an aside, rumours persist that the Oilers are trying to pry Brad Stuart way from Boston with most offers involving various prospects and picks. I personally wouldn't be surprised to see someone like Raffi Torres and a pick or a defensive prospect (Tom Gilbert, Danny Syvret?) be offered up for Stuart, especially if the Oilers sign Mikinov.

Torres to Boston has been rumoured for a while, hasn't it? A Torres/Raycroft deal was discussed at the deadline last year I think.

Personally, that would be enough to get me to cheer for the Bruins again, something I have steadfastly refused to do since O'Connell got cornholed last November.

The Russians unsuccessfully sued for Zherdev and Ovechkin. Malkin and Mikinov filed their notices of resignation earlier this summer. What makes the Russians think that they'll win these cases?

Because the Russians are such upbeat, optimistic people? :D

Well, they've got the money to sue, and besides - it's hard to explain to fans that you're doing nothing to try keep these players.

And on another note, Brampton plays their first exhibition game at home against Kitchener on Labour Day afternoon.

Man, I can't wait for hockey to start.

That isn't hockey. What are you talking about? Don't you know it's not hockey unless it's the NHL?

Just kidding, but that's basically what the media told us in the fall of 2005, remember -- "hockey is back!" Hey, idiots, it was never away.

And WOAA training camps have already opened too. I can't wait either.

Sure the sport of hockey never went away, but lets be honest, in north america it doesn't count unless it's the very best of the world. In 94 baseball didnt go away, minors and colleges played on, but nobody cares about that. In hockey where so few people care anyway, there was no getting anyone besides uber diehards like me to pay attention to the sport over the lockout.
