I think they'll need to give up more than Giggy to get him though, especially is Esche is rumoured to be going back the other way. I really do not think Giguere is that big an upgrade over Esche.

I would presume that the Ducks would throw in a draft pick and a highly touted minor leaguer in the deal.

It's all dependent on Clarke. Can he keep his tongue in its sheath? Or will he pop off and say something ridiculously stupid and inflammatory? Plus, if you trade Gagne, he's got to go somewhere where he can't hurt the Flyers twice a year.

I hate that excuse, a lot of people use it, especially in this day and age. So are you telling me that they would be scared to go up against Gagne? At the very least they should know how to better defend him than any other team. Every team has players you have to watchout out for, it's much better that you know them inside and out. Besides with free agency they are just as likely to bolt for a rival who's willing to ante up anyways. Of course he will be extra motivated when it comes to playing his old team but they will have to play him eventually anyways, as well that novelty will only last so long.

The Buffalo Sabres re-signed goaltender Ryan Miller to a three-year deal today.

If his groin stays healthy. What the hell is it with Atlanta goalies and wonky groins? Started with Damien Rhodes and seems to have run through just about every goalie they have ever brought in.

Bobby Clarke just realized his team had no shot to win without his star forward. Simon Gagne signed a five year deal worth $26.25 million. http://www.cbc.ca/story/sports/national/2006/09/11/nhl-flyers-gagne.html

It's going to be interesting to see if Clarke runs Gagne off, a la Eric Lindros.

That is actually a great contract for Philly. Very cap-friendly for such a good player.

And, both Clarke & Hitchcock love the kid. There's nothing selfish about him.
