I figured everyone in Philly called players on other teams "asshole."

Well, since I'm not in Philly, I play by a different set of rules. Plus I'm developing quite the hatred for Mr. Clarke.

    My apologies.

You're not alone in your dislike of Clarke.

All I know is, I like the new NHL because the Penguins have Crosby, which means they have new life. Yet to see tonight's highlights, but I'm going to see them soon enough.

Heck, Bobby Clarke probably doesn't even like Bobby Clarke. All the stuff he overcame to be a good player....too bad he has pissed away all that goodwill as an administrator.

Just a brief interruption to thank you all for keeping this thread alive.  I've been in London since Sunday and I already miss hockey almost as much as my boyfriend. ( I did say almost).

Hitting a Cyber cafe and reading SJ makes me feel a little less homesick.  :)

Well, with you being away from your bf, cyber cafe takes on a second meaning. :D

    Seriously, glad to oblige.

How are the Bournemouth Blazers doing these days? Did they win that big tilt with the Sheffield Steelers?

No clue.  Haven't talked sports since Saturday night when I watched the Leafs beat Montreal at the airport in Toronto while waiting for my flight.  I'm staying at my agent's place with other opera singers so nobody talks sports. I think these people have a very limited view of culture.

And for the record, I like the 'new' NHL with a few exceptions:

    a) goalie restrictions.  To hell with your trapezoid ... set my Eddie free, man.

    b) shootouts.  Hate them.  But if we have to have 'em,  there should be at least 5 shooters.

Ahhh .... hockey talk.  I feel better. Thanks.  :D

I hope you took your Aki Berg bobblehead doll to keep you company. But if you didn't here's a reminder.

Get it right, JR.  His name is F*ckin' Aki Berg, thank you very much. And I think we should lock him in a room with Eddie and no witnesses and see what happens.

I forgot to add my other complaint about the new NHL.  I hate the schedule.  There are way too many teams I won't see the Leafs play and a lot of players I only read about or see on the highlight reels.  I know that I could watch non-Leaf games to see them but staying up for the second game to see the Western teams is just waaaaay past my bedtime.
